Stuck in chapter 2...help???

Stuck in chapter 2...help???
Hey, I was playing with my 2 buddies and we got to the ice temple and totally cleared both lvl1 and lvl2. We've done everything (i think) and got the Oria's Key from the Game Arena. Now all thats left is to destroy that alter with the lightning prism. We have already been in the room with the alter and got shocked for not bringing the priestess her blo0o0od or whatever she wants. When we fire the lightning prism, it goes all the way down the all and goes into the room and does nothing. It doesnt destroy the alter. We have read through the walkthrough and cant figure out why it wont work. Is it a glitch? or have we missed something? heEeEeElppp?!?!?!
*MINOR SPOILER AHEAD*
**You cannot destroy that altar with lightning, it would be stupid if you could destroy a servant of talos, god of storms with lightning no?**
there are 3 ways to destroy it:
1-talk to the watergenie on lvl1 were you met the people that made you crash, ask about the altar, he will tell you how to destroy it. Keep in mind he will only tell you this if you have not attacked the auralites that made you crash.
2-talk to the altar when you have killed EVERY LAST aurilyte in the entire tempel and tell it there will be no one left to feed it.
3-talk to nickodemus the archmage on lvl2 of the tempel and ask him for help, this is a bad option that will make you lose xp, so i would not go for this one, ask him for knowledge instead. you prolly have talked to him already and you only have one shot at asking him so forget about this option.
