my friend's XP Problem

Post by GameLoser »

Is there any reason why you couldnt run BG1 (original) on a windows xp or is there a patch or something that makes it compatable? My friend cant install it, it is loading and stops at 80% to show a stupid torment movie, it says it's done and he goes to programs- then blackisle- then to the baldurs gate file that would normally hav the icons like: play, exit, configure, view demos, ect. on it and its the one that shows the install n' crap icons! any tips, suggestions or answers for his XP problem?

The game was made in 1995 so it probably wont work.Tel him to try looking in the Baldurs Gate folder in C:\Program Files\Black Isle.

I run BG1 under XP, and it runs fine.
Try a full install.

PS. you get the Pst movie after the installation, so it should have installed.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Yup I run it in XP too and works fine
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

thanks

thanks, i now know that it can be done thanks to u guys. we'll keep tryin and look in the suggested file.

P.S.- I just found out that he has a InstallShield that won't let any unknown files be installed, that could be the problem...

Me too

Seems I can neither install the original Baldurs Gate on my XP machine. My partner can install it, and if he copies the cd to his harddrive, I can install from there, but not get it to recognize my cd-drive.

Each time I try to install it I get a message that the uninstall failed to initialize, so "you may not be able to uninstall". (I manage to do that by using regcleaner.)

The CD has no scratches, so it seems to me it is a softwareproblem of some kind... Any suggestions to how to solve this?
(Btw, I also seem to have a problem installing The Sims, and Diablo II LOD installs but always have a glitch...)
