Magic's a ton of fun but can get repetitive. I'll just grab some enchantments or make some potions that I like and not deal with it.

But I really like light armor, sneaking, h2h, marksman and acrobatics. Plus the feeling of mercantile and speechcraft makes me happy. It makes me feel like people might actually like me. It makes up for my unsociability in real life.

I'd typically pick up 1 combat weapon, and maybe block and athletics, alchemy, maybe unarmored, and the rest stealth.

Stealth definitely has the most variety of game functions. Combat is mostly just combat stuff, and magic is mostly just casting spells, but stealth has a really good variety, ranging from fighting, to misc to interpersonal. However, the other groups are probably more powerful, but I think you only need 1 or 2 of each.

I voted magic, I love making my own spells and using them to destroy my opponents, 100-100 absorb health on target is a real crowd pleaser.

MAGIC!!! you say magic is repetetive? how about smashing some ogrim on the head with a sword and watching him collapse after 1 blow, even on +100 difficulty? THAT is repetitive in a nutshell. Magic is the best, maybe stealth is a close second... combat/magic is fun too. But pure magic, nothing like it. As a self titled Death Mage (cheesy and generic but Maelfactor the Death Mage had a ring to it) I pay ridiculous sums of money and have an INSANE magic quota. soemthing like 900 magic points i think, which allows me any spells I want. I can twist spells to do whtaever I want, get creative and mix up spell effects, size, duration, area, target, you name it! repetetive? Only if you have no imagination. It requires a certain sadistic pleasure in destroying npc's in new ways too...

Combat certainly gets boring, unless you're using spears. I got spear-weilding down to an art by about halfway through the game. If used properly, only other spearmen can even have a chance of touching you. It's all about moving forward and thrusting, then backing off out of their range, then attacking again... and thrusting at just the right rate to keep your enemies in a constant state of "ow, you hit me!" and never attacking back.

That barred, stealth is without a doubt the most variable of the skills. Pure thieves usually do more thinking in combat situations than anybody else, especially if you're big on sneaking. (Spears work really well as backstabbing weapons, too.... hehehe)

But magic is really my favorite. Spellmaking, enchanting, and alchemy are endlessly fun, even if casting the same custom Fireball gets dull after a whiile, and that Absorb Health 30-60 in 20' cast on strikes daedric katana is a little overpowered...

wow, for once a poll that someone actually votes on! :)

I would say stealth is by far the coolest, even though there is nothing you can do stealthwise that a spell isn't able to copy. In fact, in that regard magic is the most convenient, as you don't have to carry around lockpicks, probes, potions or scroills... All you need is magicka. However, I get a lot more pleasure from using items rather than just flapping my hands around and magically creating effects out of thin air... ;)
Still, nothing beats the thief/monk/assassin/acrobat/ranger varieties that I think are the most fun!

PS: My next character is definitely going to be a nonviolent pacifist, like gwalchmai(?) suggested in a different thread... :)

Stealth and magic, for ranged attacks.

The weight saving by magic is also great.

Combat certainly gets boring, unless you're using spears.

Mod just appeared that uses a bunch of moves. It's called Combat Enhanced, and to quote the author:

"30 different combat combos performed using simple combinations of the basic attacks(i.e. Slash, Slash, Thrust). There are 5 combos for each of the 6 weapon types(Long Blade, Short Blade, Blunt Weapon, Axe, Spear, and Unarmed). The combos range from stat drains to knockdowns to decapitations."

You can find it up on Morrowind Summit.

I generally go for a magic/combat combo. But some time back I created a stealthy assasin type character with some ability in magic. I haven't really done much with her so far, but I may go back and see what it is like at some point.

combat with slight magic seems to be the most effecient way to slaughter your opponents. i use a lot of constant effect gear (the top of the screen is always full) for magic and sunder as a weapon with constant effect daedric armor - restore health, restore fatigue, chameleon, night eye, water breathing, all 4 types of shielding, fortify strength intelligence speed and endurance (use the corpus glitch for strength and endurance). seems to work out pretty well

My approach, too: combat enhanced by magic. Magic by itself can be a stalemate, and stealth has very little return on it for the investment, IMO. A combat-oriented type simply won't survive if they ignore magical damage. But if you put a variety of spells of all sorts at the disposal of a fighter, especially constant effect ones, you've got a super-buffed combat type that can take nearly anything. Or at least, run away, screaming, and live to laugh about it.
