Periodically, I lose the ability to execute coup de grace. Sometimes it's available part way through the game, then disappears. Right now, it's not available even at the beginning.
Just to confirm, it is available on the radial menu, but nothing happens when clicking on a paralyzed troll after first clicking on coup de grace. After clicking on coup de grace, sometimes the cursor turns into a sword, sometimes not.
The pc's all have their characteristics edited [via a hex editor] so their total [including the bonus] is 235. I've tried reducing this to 144, but didn't make any difference. [I haven't any idea that the editing of the characteristics is related, but mention it in case it is.]
I've tried using the 'repair' option in Add/Remove and uninstalling/reinstalling - makes no difference.
Any ideas highly appreciated.
Thanks
You have to be within striking distance to use coup de grace. Your character may run to the enemy, but will not have enough time to perform the action. Just chose coup de grace again.
Understand. But, I've got my character right next to the troll. Sometimes works for a while, then doesn't. Other games, never works.
Guess I'll chalk it up to another one of their bugs.

try this
Here's another thing to try. It should let you determine if it's an actual bug in the programming, or just lousy controls.
1. knock troll unconscious in combat as normal
2. have the character that you want to kill the troll attempt to loot the troll
3. if it's one of the 3 or 4 trolls in the game that actually have loot, take it
4. remember the spot you had to click on to get your character to loot it
5. exit looting screen
6. move pointer to the spot you clicked on to loot
7. with the troll highlighted, open the radial menu and choose coup de grace
8. your character should now automatically perform the coup de grace on the pre-targeted troll
9. sometimes, even this won't work...just click all over in the general area of the troll...also, it helps to have all your other party members out of the way

My guess is you've over-hexed ypur party-- heh-heh
with your stats you should auto-kill alomost any oponent in the game..
wheres the fun/challenge in that ??
Anyway, the most trolls is way down, and if your lvl 10 it doesn't mater, just hack'em down and move to the next combat..
Oh, When all else fail, put the Dwarf up front!
