Swoop Racing

Post by Dark-J »

Has anyone been able to win any of the races on Tatoinne? I have been able to get the sector championships in Manaan easily. And some of the people that walk around in the game sometime says stuff like "oh yeah, he has the best droid parts and swoop upgrades available." Are there such a thing as swoop upgrades and are there any type of tricks to winning even the first race on Tatoinne?

And hi, Im new to the post so "Rock On" :p

Welcome to the forum - I hope you find it informative and helpfull :)

The only sure way I have of winning would be "practice practice practice" .... and some luck I'd think.

The first time through the game - I could complete all but the last of the races on Tatooine rather easy, but the last race I just couldn't beat. So I gave up and completed the game

After a periode of time, I picked up SW:KotOR again, and behold - suddenly I raced through all the legs on Tatooine withouth problems.
I even managed to win the last leg, accidently quick load, and had to do the race again - but improved my time at least a few tens of a second :D (memo to self: learn difference between quick save and quick load :D )

Dark-J,

I am guessing you followed some of the suggestions found in the forums about turning down the graphic options such as resolution, quality, Anti-Aliasing, shadows, etc. Those kinds of tweaks greatly improved my racing scores.

Keep in mind that every machine is different though, so your mileage may vary (pun intended :p )

This last time around playing the game I searched everywhere for swoop parts, because some idiot NPC said, "Oh, this guy has great swoop upgrades." Then I went to him and he's like, "You a racer? Well, I can assure you I don't carry the crazy parts you're looking for." Or whatever. So I looked throughout the whole game. Never found any. So I don't think you can upgrade your bike... But like others said, it is possible to beat the races on each planet. A little tough on Tantooine, but possible.

Tatooine swoop racing

How the bloody....?

I've managed to get past the tier two race time but after several days of trying i just cannot get past tier 3 time. I've tried reducing my screen resolution to 800 * 600, dropping all the graphic extras, etc etc.

I know I can't buy/do any upgrades on my swoop bike.

Can I skip this sucker without any relevant loss, or would that be regrettable etc??

While I wait for responses, I'm takling my crew to Manaan (been to all the others already).

SPOILER:

Tatooine racing bonds are invaluble. Selling them on Yavin gives you ~200 credits a piece for EACH ONE. When you win all three races, you can make ~20000 creds selling them on yavin, everywhere else buys them for 60.

The last race gives 60? racing bonds so that's the most valuble for money.

But you're going to come across lots of money anyway plus you can sell your relativly-bad stuff and buy better gear. Or you can sell excess items that you don't want. e.g. Excess lightsaber colour crystals (are you really going to need 30 red crystals?) or large amounts of medpacs when you have a large amount of life-support-packs.

Yes you can skip it - You only need money to buy certain items. You can make do with the items you find anyway and there are only a few items you will want to buy, most of them from Suvam and the "Premium Item" shop on Korriban.
Skipping won't have any impact on the story either.

If you want lots of cash then go for it (it's just a case of hitting the right boost pads), but if you're not bothered or just can't do it. No bad will come from it.
Besides, if you *really* need cash then you can get party members to make items and then you can sell them!

i would recommend you look everywhere else before purchasing anything on korriban. the prices there are jacked up atleast 15%. you can get the stabalizer mask on manaan for a few K less, same thing with the regenerator implant (if thats your bag). thermal dets are 3k from the rodian (sp?) on korriban, but only 2.2k elsewhere. as far as cash goes, its not a bad idea to try and beat all the swoop racing. the difference is 10k for both top spots, 4k for the second tier. you should be able to get to the 2nd tier with your eyes closed after a few runs.
