Socerer spells

Iam a Lvl 9 socerer and when it comes to level time Iam unable to select the spells I want to place into my spell book. ie i can learn summon creature 2 and 4 but not summon creature 3...This is the case with many of my spells i dont seem to be able to learn any of the lower lvl spells anymore (like haste or slow) Can someone please help

You get access to a specific numbers of spells per level up. In the manual you can see how many spells you know of each spell level, and how many you can cast. (page 164 in my manual)
So ... if you check the table I mentioned - you will see a level 10 sorcerer has as many spells from spell-level 3 (3 spells actually) as a level 9 sorcerer, and thus - you can't select more. (however - you should be able to "unlearn"/remove known spells and select new ones at level up)

So there is no problem with the game or anything. You don't get more spells from spell-level 3 before level 11 sorceer (when you go from 3 to 4)

(Sorry for all the levels and spell-levels, it can be confusing if one doesn't know the rules fully, also excat numbers can differ slightly due to bonus spells).

Thanks for the help though my problem is just that I cant select any spell that I want. I can only have the recomended spell or the spells that are gained for that level I cannot choose any from a lower level now...

But thanks so much I will try unlearning/relearning new and see if that helps as I now have alot of spells I dont want and will never use..

I have patched the game...

I just thought it odd that i could learn summon creature 2 and 4 but not 3...

I use the recommended when leveling til I get to selecting the spells I want.

Have you never been able to learn that - or is it just at this level?

Because from your original post - I read you were leveling from 9 to 10, and at that level you aren't allowed to select more level 3 spells, which Summon 3 is. (and so is Haste and Slow for that matter). You need to level to 11 before you get access to more level 3 spells. (unless you remove already known level 3 spells, "unlearn").

Nod I was going from level 8 to 9 yes and yes I couldn't learn them at that level, infact I couldnt learn any other than those from level 4 and only what was recomended which I gained when I leveled. I had on a previous level learnt summon creature 2 but I chose a different spell from the level 3 spells when they became available to me I thought, as in previous levels, I could go back once i had leveled again and learn S/C 3 but I was unable to. Iam only getting 1 spell per level so Iam trying to choose a variaty of spells. Iam waiting to level again and then I will try your earlier suggestion of unlearning/learning the spells. It will be hard as i only have the 1 level 3 spell and I like it so I dont know that I want to replace it with s/c 3 but i do want to see if your suggestion works for future reference. I've not head of a bug regarding this, especially if you are running version 1.62

Are you sure you check the correct "tab" (for lack of better words) when selecting spells at level up.
You will be presented with a screen with a number of tabs on top that makes you change between L0, L1 .... L9 (when available) spells at level up.

(the circular figures with roman numerals, on the top of the spell selection screen at this screenshot)

Otherwise – I would like you to list your character statistics most notable your charisma and character level.
Also – try to click through the radial menu (right click your character), or use your spell-book and see how many level 3 spells you know, and list the number (I would like a screen shot if possible, which you can e-mail to meif you dont' have a webspace to place it on)

It is strange, but lets see if we can't figure out what is wrong.

Alternative there is little else I can suggest then trying to make a new sorcerer and using console commands to level up, and testing the amount of spells he get, to see if it is a problem with your current game or NwN alltogether.

Ok I have now reached my next level which is 9...sorry i thought i was already level 9 ... I was able to unlearn and learn any spell from that any level. I was also able to learn more spells this level from any spell level I wanted so it all seems to be ok now... I don't really know what happened...maybe my game was buggy for my last level or something...I also gained the feat "empower".

No problem - as long as things seems to be working again.
(But for a view of the number of spells a sorcerer gets, check out the table in the manual I mentioned earlier. It can help with some planning)
