Poll: Worst Class

Post by Eadaii »

I know there have been a lot of "best class" polls, but I did a search for a worst class poll and couldn't find one . . . correct me if I am wrong. So, the question says it all: which class do you think is the "worst" and why?

Class or kit?
For class i have to say pure Bard (and let the age old discussion begin)
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

I mean class or kit. Whichever. And by "worst" that could mean anything to any person, so I don't just mean "weakest." For instance, I would say that a fighter is the worst class. I much prefer a paladin if I play a fighter. And I'm not talking about "weakness," because in some respects a fighter is stronger than a paladin, but I personally think that a straight fighter is rather boring.

To me, Archers are real boring. They just sit back and shoot... wow talk about enjoyment. . . So my vote goes to archers.

I agree with Stilgar, the bard is the most sucky class there is.
A bard has little skills, strenght and ablilities wich makes it the weakest and most boring character there is.

I'm not crazy about the Beast Master druid, so I guess I'd place my vote there...
However, I'm reluctant to call anything the worst class because this is highly subjective and depends on personal preference, playing style and what appeals. I would argue that basically any class can be played well if the gamer has a bit of experience and focuses on the strengths of that particular class. :)

Also, what do you mean by 'worst' ? The least fun, the least powerful, the most boring????? ;)

Worst one? Let's see...

Most borings : Pure Fighter, Archer & all those too "cheesy" classes (Kensai/Mage*, Kensai/Thief*, Berserker/Cleric* & WizardSlayer/Thief*)
Weakest : I'll say pure Kensai...

*I hate those classes because they make the game too much unchallenging

I agree that pure fighters are the most boring class, but I wouldn't say Kensai is the weakest... (If you ever played the Chloe-Mod you'll know what I mean ;) )
As UU said, my vote for weakest class (in terms of fighting power) goes to beastmaster (or even worse fallen beastmaster :D )
There are some more or less useless classes too: There's no point in playing a pure Fighter, Paladin, Bard, Cleric or Druid (except for roleplaying reasons) because the kits are a lot better without many drawbacks (or none at all).

Well...

Fallen beastmaster ????

Well, for my money, it's a toss up between beastmasters and transmuters.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

I like playing a pure fighter ( but only when it's an evil dwarf...dunno why. :p )

I would go with the bard, although I've never played one ( wonder why ;) )

bards require a distinct playing style, they're not simply weaker fighter/mages.

i don't like the totemic druid for the stat hits. if i'm going to dual class a fighter, i always take a pure fighter (wqould a roleplayed kensai seriously stop advancing as a 'sword saint'?)

all cheesy classes. munchkins should be shot on sight. uhm............yeah, that's pretty much it

It's the Avenger Druid who has lowered stats, the Totemic Druid only loses the poor shapeshifting abilities of the normal druid in exchange for the much more useful Spirit Animals.

All sword swingers, except for rangers tough. Monk is isn´t good either, no classy armors and such trinkets that others can wear. I personally have always played as a mage (the one that manipulates energy). :p

Worst:
1.Monk (loser)
2.Paladin and all kits (What does he trade? HP, levels, and proficiencies for what? Detect Evil, Protection from evil and a few crappy priest spells)
3.Kensai (blow for blow, cant match a lot of the tougher creatures)
4.Beastmaster (in BGT they rule but the rest speaks for itself)
5.Archers (wimps hiding behind everyone with a bow)
Official Drink of the Wizard Slayer

Let your taste decide :)

I understand that monks and kensais are Powerful, but they are also really weak (Monks get Magic Resist... so they're a little more tough to kill IMO)

Paladins are almost cheesy, which might explain why you don't like them...but they are extremely powerful, especially Inquistor's. And in SoA, they can weild arguably the most powerful weapon in the game. Definitely not weak at all.

Full classes that suck: Bards. They just don't suit my playing style at all, and as a roleplayer, I think they should stick to the theater, not singing at monsters. Oh, and Barbarians suck, too.

Kits that suck: Wizard Slayer (I just dislike it), Kensai, Beastmaster (ROFL @ UserUnfriendly), Avengers, Totemic Druids, Shapeshifters, Jester, Skald, all Specialist Mages except for Illusionists and Conjurors.

Bounty Hunters are redundant in ToB, too.
