Soloing a Sorceror

Post by FireLighter »

Wow!! I never realized how much fun soloing could be, By the time I got out of Irenicus' Dungeon, I had grown 2 levels, then once I got out, I visited the circus, and got another level from the genies riddle. The only thing I didnt like about this game, is how slow you level in a party, but I'm getting experience left and right and I'm loving every bit of it! :D

if you still want party banters, just use a smaller party (level faster). multiclass character (jan, aerie, jaheira) are more powerful quicker this way

Yeah, soloing is usually a nice change from your usual party-play ;)

Also, the sorceror may (or may not, I haven't tried ALL the possibilities...) be one of the easiest class to solo with.

One thing you might want to try afterwards is a party comprised of your PC + one or two NPCs, custom-made or not. This is also quite interesting, since you don't have as many things to manage as with a full party, and you can still compliment each other's abilities.

I currently have a game in which I have the PC, an Half-Elven Fighter/Druid, a dwarven Fighter/Thief and a human Sorceror, and I can say it's also pretty fun to play.

Oh, btw, I let this group play on a totally unmodded game (except for the fixpack, which isn't really a mod anyway I guess...)

Either way, have fun with your sorceror! :)

I like to play a 3 or 4 member's party.

In progress I have :

- Gnome Cleric/Illusionist, Jan Janse, Mazzy Fentan

and

- Half-Elf Fighter/Druid, Solaufein (Figther Mage), Tashia (Sorcerer), Imoen

They level REALLY faster, but it isn't like soloing...

Ya, I can never really play with a small party because if I get like 1-3 NPCs Ill want to get a full party, I don't know why though... I may try a small party next, anyways thanks guys.

Oh, and by the way, is solafein mod a nice one to have? I mean is he worth it? I've heard a lotta rumors about him and wondering if he's REALLY that good.

It's a great mod. Solafein has excellent writing, isn't over-powered, and comes across a well-defined, seriously conflicted (and therefore interesting) character. Go to the link in the sticky thread at the top of the page, and check the materials out.

Thank you fable, I just downloaded it, and read a little about the NPC itself, sounds like a well thought out mod. :)

I dont kno about solafein i dont think he is as good as ive heard, and i have tashia and i dont think shes as good as ive heard either, her or her stupid little cat.
It says that the cat is immune to magic but on my game it isnt....

Immune to certain forms of magic, not just magic...
Personally I think Tashia is a pretty overpowered char, maybe you should experiment around with her a little in spell choice etc.?
Tact is for people not witty enough to be sarcastic

Fair enough. You're entitled to think as you will about the mod, after all.

But have you tried it? And if not, what leads you to think it's not as good as you've heard?

jan minsc and boo are great dialogues, and no conflicts come out of it. you're lacking a healer though...

Yes I know. But because I want to level up fast I want a small group. So of course i can't have it all. So I can only have a thief OR a healer. What do I need most??

You can kick minsc and take Anomen (Healer + Tank). It'll solve your problem.

In a party (even in a small one), IMO, you need the 4 basic classes.

- Rogue (To take care of locks, traps, etc.)
- Tank (To hold enemies)
- Healer (Druid or Cleric, to Heal, Buff & Summon)
- Magic-User (Mage, Bard, etc.) (To Buff, Summon, Deal Direct Damage, etc)

Lets see... your party is :
- Mage (Magic User)
- Jan (Rogue + Magic User #2)
- Minsc (Tank) ---> Anomen (Tank + Healer)

BTW : Anomen is annoying, so you can keep Minsc with you too. It's not REALLY essential to have an healer. Those blue potions can do the job.

I wouldn't worry about a healer class too much. Other than Chaotic Commands, they don't have any vitally useful spells. I went through the end game without one, and didn't really find it a problem, for instance.

Yes I partly agree with you.
But it is very annoying if U must visit a temple every time U have been drained....
