And damn do they have nice stuff in them.

I finally raided my first vault. Those Hlaalu didn't know what hit them. Got my 3rd or 4th set of glass armor in there.

thats a matter of opinion... The telvani and redoran arent as rich as the hllalu, but even the hllalu only have very generic treasures... i mean think about it, where cant you get glass armor and ebony long swords. After a month or so playing morrowind I feel nothign but contempt for anythign not completely unique or daedric. Even some daedric things get old after a while. You would think they would have more gold though... I thought that for a treasury of the richest great house in a nation they had remarkably few actual gold and gems.

in pure coin there's stuff for hundreds of thousands in each vault. Yes, a lot of the stuff is generic, but you don't really get decked out in super-gear from head to toe until you're pretty far in the game. It's a particularly nice place for an aspiring thief to start amassing his/her collection... :)

what kind of aspiring theif can break the great vaults!??!?!? i still cant pull it off without taunting every person so i can kill them and take their keys. *sigh* well maybe, being a bulky fighter, i just cant pull that off.

Ahnassi can tell you about the Redoran vault key, which is in a drawer in one of the manors at the redoran plaza. You will need to kill only one person in this case, and it earns you some nice gold and ebony armours.

The amount of Items and drakes depends on your level. If you go there at lvl. 1 you might find like 1K gold and some ebony weapons, but if you go at lvl. 100, there will be like 1,000,000 drakes and loads of enchanted, ebony, glass and Daedric weapons and armour. :p

May Contain Spoilers:If your strong you could go to the dren plantation and kill everyone in the dren manor to get some indoroil armor and then the ordinators will TRY to kill you if your wearing their ''Sacred Armor'' which is an easy way to get keys for any vault + the telvaani vault has a deadric claymore which if you are a shrewed(?) business man you can sell it to the creeper but it can be almost impossible to figure out However we made a total of over half a million with things we found in different places ''cough'' Towers of dusk and dawn (GhostGate) Dren plantation (Nearly every person has a deadric weapon) and just random finds.
And lo ye must learn of the great war that raged fo a couple of posts and brought the citadel momentaraly to its knees
Lookie!

Spoiler
If you are Morag Tong you get a quest to kill two person in the Dren Manor. After you do, talk to anybody else in the house--including Orvas Dren--causes them to attack you. If you are strong this can earn you a fair bit of cash, the greatest problem here will probably be to find someone to sell to.

Can I ask why you say that? I did all the Morag Tong missions, including the one where I kill Dren's 2 assassins and nobody else attacked me.

ya well theres no end of ways to make a quick buck. the telvani tower of tel fyr is one such place... armor and weapons worth SO MUCH MONEY its insane, plenty of legendary items... and the best part is the guy doesnt give a darn if you steal him blind, just pick the locks on all his cabinets and plunder to your heart's content.

I did. You have to to become Hortator. Or maybe you can kill Dren and scare the 2 councilors he controls. But I always talked him into giving me his support.
