no new mage spells when dualling...?

Post by Brookster »

hi guys

have just dualled my kensai to a mage, and took advantage of the scroll-write magic-get experience trick [after temporarily disbanding my party].

Anyway, worked a treat, had been collecting scrolls just for this purpose, and got up to 8th level; however, on each level up, although the amount of spells I could learn each day increased, I didn't actually get any new spells [other than the ones I had just writen to my spell book].

Is this usual? Do mages not automatically get access to new spells, or do they always have to learn them from scrolls?

Thanks in advance

Yes, mages must learn all their spells (except the 2 they choose at level 1) from scrolls, you only get some at character creation in BG2 because you start as a 7th level mage and it is assumed you learned some spells in BG1 :D
There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.
