Yet More Jaheira Romance

I'm sure you guys have seen this before, but I still can't get the Jaheira Romance to work.

Dermin has just appeared for the first time. I slept for 6 days. The Derminspawn global variable is at 3, but the Derminappear variable is ridiculously high. I set it to 1, though still nothing happened. Any ideas? I've been waiting outside in Athkatla, so I'm in the right spot for Dermin to appear for a 2nd time. I can't figure out what's wrong.
