Need some information

Post by Coconut_Crab »

Hello, I am hoping someone here can give me the information I need.

I am play SOA right now, and I have almost reached the experience cap. I have installed the experience cap remover however, and I'm wondering if I do go over the levels officially allowed in SOA, will that affect what spell I learn and how many spell I can memorize after I install TOB?

I know in TOB I can get quest spells, and I just want to make sure getting a very high level in SOA won't stop me from getting these quest spells in TOB.

Oh and another short question. I know I will lose one personal attribute in Hell in SOA since I always play a good character. I'm just wondering, if I replay the game from the beginning with the same character, will it reduce 1 attribute from me again when I go to Hell?

Thank you for your replies.

For the XP Cap Remover : You will just be able to continue leveling even if you have more than 3M XP (SoA Cap). I think that you get the XP Remover by installing ToB (You can level to the ToB cap). Lets wait for someone to confirm/infirm.

When you go in hell, you can both Raise and Lower some stats. That's up to you to decide wich curse or wich bonus is the best for each test. I heard that if you're a Paladin, you can't choose non-good/evil options or you'll become a Fallen Paladin (crappy fighter...).

If you have ToB installed, it does indeed allow you to advance past the level cap in SoA. As you level up, you will be eligible for any level bonuses or skills as you reach the level requirement regardless of whether or not you are in SoA or ToB. It won't stop you from gaining any abilities in other words, but you might get a few of them in SoA.

If you don't have ToB installed yet, you still will get the XP you had at the end of SoA once you import, at which time you should be able to choose any level specific abilities you are eligeble for.

I assume on your last question you mean if you import you're character to run through the game again after you beat it once. If you do so, you will still lose any attribute points according to whatever choices you make. On the other side, by that time, you'll be so overpowered, you won't have any challenge forom the game anyway :D

So are you SURE I will get the bonus abilities for my level once I install TOB? For example, I get to level 30 in SOA without TOB installed, and when I install it , I immediately get like 7 bonus abilities. Is that correct?

The reason I asked my 2nd question is because I notice I will always loose 1 point in dexterity in Hell, since I decide not to sacrifice my comrade, and I don't know if there's a way to get the lost dexterity back, which really upsets me.

Thanks for your reply. If you can confirm your first point, it will really help me a lot.

Thanks.

Teambg offers an extended rulepack. I haven't been able to get on the teambg site so I don't know what's goin on with that. You should be able to find it elseware though.

You only get the HLA's on the next levelup, so it's not immediate. I don't know if you would get all 7 on the next lvlup or just the regular 1, though.

Cheese: If you cast spell immunity (I think it's abjuration) before going through the doors for the Selfish test you won't lose anything.

It's "Spell Immunity: Divination" that protects you from the dex-drain.

I don't think you'll get HLAs when you advance to post-2,95million-levels using the exp cap-remover and then import to ToB, it is even possible ToB reduces your XP to a "legal" level (2.950.000 that is) upon importing.
I'd just install ToB before you reach the SoA exp cap and there won't be any problem.

There's something better than a away to get the Dex back (though there's that too, but I won't spoil it) -highlight to read:
cast SI-Divination on the protagonist when you do the test and, voila - no Dex loss.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Just a grumpy thought... :D

When the protagonist rescues Imoen...(spoiler.. highlight) they must select an ability point to give up.. and notably Cha. is not an option... Further.. there are the incidents discussed above. Now it is about the time the PC heads off to the rescue and then again when she finds herself in Hell.. that her powers begin to increase significantly.

IMO.. this has probably been done by the developers to rebalance the game a bit. Of course, as we all know, you become so incredibly powerful that it really doesn't make much difference ultimately... but this also begs the question, "why mess with it?" It really doesn't matter, your character will still be a sight to behold.. regardless of the point loss. ;)
