Summoned monsters can't control?

Post by Oni »

I know I should not have control of summoned monsters, but for some reason the Vrock, and the Hezazerur (how ever you spell it) don't fight even if attacked... Am I doing something wrong? Or am I just not evil enough to command them (LG group).

Not only do they not fight if they're not close enough, the Balor will NEVER fight (at least it hasn't for me). He usually just leaves on the turn after I summon him.

I really don't know about Balor. Balor is not only a unique demon but very intelligent - may be a bug may not be, I'll have to try it out with an evil party and someone with a high intelligence. I think my son - while using an LE party - had no problem with him.

I don't believe they should fight at all if you're of LG alignment... First off back when it was PnP it was pretty much a judgement call by the DM when using a spell or article to summon Demons - of course with the spell if you weren't standing in the circle protecting you, you were imediately attacked. Anyway an LG character summoning Demons would be viewed as an alignment sway by a DM if there weren't some special circumstances. Demons are rather intelligent Chaotic beast and don't take too kindly of creatures with differing attitudes disturbing them.
