(SoU spoiler) Unable to find the Shadow Hart, or even its tracks.

Post by Alastor »

I'm playing SoU, and I can't find the SHadow Hart's tracks anywhere on the foothills. I've heard they appear in rrandom locations, and have conflicting information on whether my SPot skill affects or not. I've checked a few FAQs and guides, but the puzzling thing is I can't even find the tracks. Any help would be appreciated.

Well...

I've looked in the toolset :o and this is what I've found.
Note that I'm not very good at using the toolset for other things then finding item tags, and occasional other stuff, so consider this spoiler information with a grain of salt :D

There are a number of trigger areas for the Stag tracks, they aren't random per se.
However there is only a chance that you will discover the tracks, and I'm not sure if you get more chances to discover the tracks at one area if you fail the discovery. I do think you can return to the trigger area for the tracks after 60 seconds and try again, but this is only a semi-qualified "interpretation" of the code

The chance for seeing the track is (as far as is explained in the script):
Base chance is 10%
Rangers, Barbarians and Druids gain 50% extra chance it seems.
The chance increases if you intelligence is above 12 (think the INT counts as a percentage, so 12 would equal 12% chance)
And your Spot skill is calculated into that chance score also.

However - I'm not sure how many triggers one need or what the percentage is for the stag itself to appear. (I've not looked that deep into the code).

So basically to answer you questions :D

They don't appear random, however there is only a chance for finding them (although I do not know if you only get one chance to find each trigger).
Spot skill helps (along with intelligence and being a ranger, barbarian or druid)

Hope this helps :)

something else...

Are there any specific locations for the triggers you could point out? Cause I've been searching for a long while. I'm not predisposed to finding it, because I'm a Cleric, with 10 INT and just about 8 Spot.

More shadowy things

NOw that u mention the shadow hart. When I killed him (sorry, Chatoic Evil Warrior/Weapons Master), I get the Shadow "Horns" (don't know the english word) and a Shadow Heart. What is this heart's use. The hunter only wants the Horns to heal his bride, but no1 wants the heart.
Any idea?

Well - according to what I've found out, these are your options, but I've never done any of these myself:

The heart and horns can be crafted into a helmet by the smith in Hilltop town.
The horns can also be given to the arcane archer.
The heart and a piece of quatz should be placable in the grinder for some amulet.

However, I have not confirmed these myself, the information is from what I've read around.

Heart of the Shadow

Put the Heart and a piece of quartz in The Grinder in Drogan's room and it yields a Lesser Amulet of Health, I think.

Yay :D

I started a new game, with a druid( I've always wanted to play a druid). The Shadow Hart was VERY easy to find and kill. I decided to kill it instead of warn it. Helping Ferran just seemed cooler. Besides, taht worthless stag had my cleric running all over the plaace last time. Feels like vengeance, sort of.
