Sand People's Turrets Problem

Post by DTL »

Sorry for bringing it up again, I've seen one older thread but nothing got solved here..maybe today I'd have some luck?

My BIG problem is that I'm in the Sand People Territory, trying to enter their enclave, and I can't get past those turrets. I wear the Sand People Robes all the time, equipping all non-robots with them. Yet I'm being attacked, both by Sand People groups introduced by a cutting sequence and by those who just wonder around.

I've already tried to kill them out of the "sight" of the turrets, yet when I came to the turrets then, they still attacked me. I've also tried to sneak past everyone in solo mode. Went well, but as I got almost past the line of defense turrents...all members of your party have been killed or however it goes (without a single shot fired!). I've tried each way several times, trying to find out what was wrong, but couldn't find anything.

The guards in the Dune Sea let me pass without problems when I'm disguised. However, when I save the game in their proximity (not talking to them, just standing a few meters apart from them) - them showing not a sign of hostility. Then I load the game and in that moment they are hostile and attack. A bug maybe?

Well, as well as a possible solution, I'd appreciate someone claiming it is or isn't a bug. And what would be also very helpful in that, could you please describe how you got past the turrets? Did you kill Sand People there? Did they attack you?

Thanks so much anyone willing to help. I think I'll die if I get stuck up here! I'm going for my fourth map there! Love the game to death and don't want to let it unfinished!

Easiest thing I can think of is taking of your Sand People robes, and returning to the Ebon Hawk, then exiting Anchorhead, then walk all the way back to the Sand People Enclave. Now don the robes once your get to their territory, and all should work... if not, I'd think your really bugged, and may have to start your game over, unless anybody else knows another way.

This happened to me, also. I'm not exactly sure what I did... I think I left their territory, included only humans in my party (no droids), put the robes on all of them, then entered their territory. I don't remember if they attacked me again or not... Then when I got to their enclave, before going inside I replaced one of my party members with HK-47. Oh yeah. Are you trying to go in there without HK-47? Is he in your party before you enter their territory? I'm not sure, but I might not have had HK-47 yet when I tried running past their turrets. And then, even after I had him, they still attacked me. I might've just loaded a previously saved game. I'm not sure. Sorry I couldn't be of much help... But just to let you know, it happened to me, too. I think you have to do something before going in there. I'm just not exactly sure what it was that I fixed.

That raises a good point I forgot to mention, as HK-47 MUST be in your party as far as I can tell. I once went into the Enclave by self and managed to seek inside (i think it was a glitch though), becasue once I was inside there was nobody, no Sand People Warriors, no Sand People femals, and no Sand People Chieftent. Eventually I had to restart my game.

Problem solved...perhaps

Well, seems like I've solved my problem by chance, having tried it over and over...This is what I think I've discovered:

There are several spots in the Territory, where you trigger an ambush (introduced by a cutscene) by stepping there. Then you have to fight and thus will reveal yourself. So, to get to the Enclave safely, you need to find your way through the map without accidentally walking over these spots. Disguised in Sand People's clothes, of course.

Nope, that doesn't make a difference. I've been attacked my the Sand People cutscenes in their territory and I was never attacked by the ones just walking around.

Geez! So I was just lucky then? And any time I play, it can happen again...? Oh well. So I have solved nothing.

Anyway, thanks for the responses, everyone.

It only happened to me once... And I have no idea what I did to trigger it or make it stop. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

I had something of a similar problem. Because my computer is bizarre and tends to crash KotOR every so often, I save just about every time I'm about to enter a new area (when I'm shifting from one area to the next is when the crash happens, and someone explain to me why the heck they have the game do that anyway). There were a couple times I would save just outside the Sand People enclave while all non-robots in my party were wearing the Sand People robes, and i would go inside. Either the game would crash or I would somehow manage to get my party killed inside, but then I'd have to load from just outside the Enclave. And when that happens, those turrets butcher the lot of us in a hurry.

I think the way I got to solve this was the autosave. -.-

Change of clothes

I struggled with this one too.

Notice when you equip a robe, then take it off, it appears as second time in your inventory?

Every time you go back to try and get past the turrets (because maybe first time you didn't take your translator droid) you need to wear different sandpeople clothes - I guess they recognise you as suspicious? If you don't know which ones you've worn and it all gets too confusing - simply dump all sandpeople clothing from your inventory, get some new ones from the next attack and use those - and take HK-43 with you to do the talking.

If you get ambushed or attaced by sandpeople when you enter their territory then you won't get past the turrets, so change those clothes.

You dont need HK-47 for this mission. As soon as you get into the actual base where the people are, you get attacked by 2 or 3 sand people standing by some banthas

i'm not sure if ani one has mentioned this before, but if you wear the sand people's clothing into anchorhead and wear the same ones again in the sandpeople's territory, the turrets would just blast u to bits

To make it a bit clearer, you have to do this until you are "recognized" by the chieftain. Once he assigns you a quest to gain greater trust, you can forego the clothes.
