Poll: Why do you post/lurk at SYM?

Well, I don't hang around SYM much, I occasionally lurk around and read some of the threads here - there are some really interesting discussions happening here, plus the people here seems to be having a lot of fun too (well most of them anyway).

Started turning up to the forum because of BG2 (I guess a lot of people say the same). I guess the friendliness of the members and the games kept me around, and keeps me coming back.

I get bored. Interesting things are garented on GB, 'specialy when the rules are looser then the other places I go to.

No politics

I came here (as apparently many others) because of BG(II). And I must admit that this is my first serious post on SYM, before that I posted a bit on Word Association. I come to this site because it's (IMHO) a great resource for some of my favorite games, and to this forum because here I can find a peculiar mixture of humorous and serious discussions. With this posting I broke a kind of inner barrier - I didn't want to post here until I could post something meaningful (in my definition...

) and think I'll contribute more in the future.

I read and post at SYM because I enjoy discussion and debate with people from different socioculturual background and people who hold opinions, values and ideas that I would never encounter in my everyday life.

I don't post here to escape anything, nor do be entertained. As I stated long ago in another thread, I actually don't think an internet message board can be very funny and I get tired of in-group jokes and self-reference rather quickly. Social conversation is nice...but very slow compared to real life conversations.

Joined in early days for discussion of BG2. Posted fairly often when SYM was first formed, but pretty much left after a few months. Occasionally drop in for a lurk to see what is going on.

Usually I lurk. I'll post now and then,usually when I feel like saying something. Mostly I'll just listen to whatever others are saying. I'm kinda like that at school; I'll listen silently, only talking when I want to express/comment on something.

i lurk and post here cause this is one of the few boards with an decicated "open" forum with a large user base. "off topic" posting is a cardinal sin on many of the boards i've been too, most notably the elderscrolls3 board

Well I've been really REALLY busy at work and I had (and still have to) cope with a lot of restrictions on my Online-Life by our nice IT department...

They keep pestering us about security and "private" stuff on the company-PC...

But I'll keep on trying to return in force....if they EVER let me...*sigh*

I hope the Vacuum-matic 2000 is working to your satisfaction, sir. It took me days to come down from the ceiling that time we gave it a test run.

I hang around SYM because...well, I don't know, really. I guess for the same reason Kayless and Beldin do. Habit. I will say though, it is fun to punch CM in the face, shove his head into toilets, and generally beat him senseless with blunt objects.

I'm not sure if I EVER came down from the Vacuumatic 2000 experience...sometimes I get the feeling that I'm still "somewhere out there, Scully"

My job is still the same, only more complicated and stressful...but I can cope - most of the time...
