Why doesn't the Balor stay?

Post by steakfish »

Whenever I summon a Balor with the orb of golden death or the fire node gem, he just leaves on the next turn. The other demons don't do this. Does anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it?

It might be your alignment or something...but what do I know...it's never happened to me. Although I only did summon him once because all he did was cast some hammer...something(i forgot the name) spell and damages my own characters as well as the enemies.
So I offer you respect, and it will take much for you to lose it. But if you do, if you choose to see it as weakness and seize upon your perceived advantage, well...perhaps I'll then let you talk with Guenhwyvar.

It worked for me last night... as for your problem with him I'm pretty sure it has to due with his high stats and his Subdual Immunity. I suggest giving the orb to your spell caster with the highest level and best stats.

FYI, When it comes to artifacts and magical items they are created via use of spells and under standard DnD rules the spell typically used to call forth a Demon of Balor's power to the prime material plane is a Gate.

I'm positive that the problem doesn't have anything to do with alignment...the first time it happened, my party alignment was chaotic evil, and all five of my characters were also chaotic evil...didn't have any NPCs with me either. Thanks for the spellcaster level tip, though...I didn't even think about that. It's funny how lots of the problems that people report in this forum are solved by somebody digging up their old AD&D books
