I've lost my familiar?

Post by Findedeux- »

I was fighting in the caves where you find the creator race (chapter two-right next to the troll caves) and I leveled up. Pretty soon after my panther died in a battle and the next time I tried to conjure him I conjured a skunk (looks like it anyway). What the hell is going on? I didn't mistakenly summon anything else (like a badger) and I've done this several times and my panther still doesn't show up. I chose my panther as my familiar when I leveled up so there shouldn't be a problem with having chosen any other familiar (besides which there is no skunk familiar). Does anyone know what is going on? Can my panther die only so many times? Thanks for the replies.

I have not heard of this.
However - the Badger is the Summon Creature 1 spell (if I remember right), so I have to ask - are you sure you didn't use Summon Creature instead of summon familiar?

Other then this I've never heard of this "bug" - there should not (in NwN) be any limit to how much your familiar can die, and even if there were - you wouldn't summon a badger instead.

Just to make sure (again) I reset all my spells and then tried again. I got the same result. I summon a furry creature with black and white stripes on its body that is so dumb I can't even talk to it. Are there any console commands available that will help me get my panther back? Or should I just wait till the next time I level up and choose a new familiar and hope that resolves it? Thanks.

Well - my first advice would be to wait and see what happens at level up.

However, I've seen a character editor for NwN (called gff-editor) on the bioware site some time back. Maybe that one could help you also, but I know nothing about it cause I've never used it.
