Scather & Frag problem

Post by jedfordski »

Why can't I equip them both? It says that they are bastard swords, but I can only equip one at a time.

I'm running the latest patch plus the CO8 ...

Scather has a glitch where it counts as a greatsword rather than as a bastard sword. Troika is working on as many bugs, glitches, and what-not as possible right now, so it will only be a matter of time.

re

I assume that everyone that's posted using them both have hacked the code ... I haven't got the knack for that so shall sit here and wait patiently ... :(

Actually, I think both the swords count as greatswords.

re

Huh ... that's odd.

Maybe there's a compatibility issue with different patches?

I presume that you do have the 'Exotic Weapon Profiency (Bastard Sword)' feat, jedfordski?

ummm ....

Ahh ... I'll have to check. I've been following Silverdragon72's Assassin build and it doesn't mention taking the exotic weapon proficiency in order to use both weapons ...

That's likely the big factor.

Of all the exotic weapons, both the Bastard Sword and the Dwarven Waraxe have one unique property for unproficient wielders. Without the appropriate 'Exotic Weapon Proficiency' (or in the case of Dwarves, their racial weapon familiarity with the Dwarven Waraxe), either weapon is treated as two-handed rather than one-handed.

Oops

Bugger ...looks like you're right. I gave someone else the exotic weapon proficiancy and they could carry them both. Ah well ... someone tell Silverdragon72 to amend his character build notes :)

Mission accomplished.

Silverdragon72 has now amended his Assassin build in his FAQ. Doh ... to late for me this game ... I'll have to make do with my two +3 Longswords with greater cleaving, frost, stun etc then :)

Not a problem mate. Unfortunately for me I aquired both swords just after I reached 9th level and used up my last feat. And I had saved over the point before I changed level. Ah well ...

...hmm I would at least give him frag...

...the effectivness of the assassin build is based on the fact that these swords always hits - no matter how low your AB is !

...so with "normal" +3 swords the assassin will be quite useless...

...so better give him at least one of the swords or...

...just kick him out of your party and build a new one (you can change your party members when clicking on one of the books lying on the desks of the 2 taverns)

adding a new PC isn't that big problem cause he will level up extremly fast...-...with just keep him out of the fights - rest a few times on level 3 of the temples (your PC will get huge amounts of EXP for winning as a low level PC against trolls and giants...-...and level up as late as possible (shortly before you reach enough points for level 3 level up to level 2; and so on...)

...you will bring him up to level 7 quite fast that way...
