fallout2.exe application error

Post by Priestess »

I am running Windows XP Pro and my game has been randomly crashing coming up with an application error for fallout2.exe. I can't see what exactly it says because the screen goes black and I can't task switch to it.

Just recently it's found that once I load my game (because i saved in combat) it should crash as soon as I end my turn.

Is there any hope for my game or am I hooped?

Hi Priestess,

I have the same problem. It seems to be a failure to save in combat.

Saving in combat, and my game will crash in the next 5 mins...

Don't know how to fix that problem...

I am also running XP Pro and have had no crashes whatsoever. Sounds like a device driver problem.

Well- it can be many things.
Remember, that because of the age of the game, it isn't neasecarily the newest drivers that are the best.

Also something worth trying, is running the game in compatible mode to see if that helps.
Also trying to turn down hardware acceleration of graphics (right click desktop -> settings -> advanced) and sound via dxdiag.
If neither helps, then remember to turn it back up again.
