that is because, justb like in rl, the arrows don't continue to fly in a straight line, they slowly drop. aim above your target to compensate.
Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No

Ok the only time you need to aim up is if your target is far away dont aim up if your target is right in front of you, 1) you will miss.2) you waste ammo and thats really expensive at times. 3) if you aim up when your close you my friend, are a moron.

The sneak attack is really powerful, too powerful even maybe. Damage multiplied by four? It's wicked...
And with a really high sneak you can go into sneak mode right in front of the target. It looks kinda stupid when my 6 feet tall nord is crouching right in front of a npc and they don't even notice me... How realistic

He's not asking about sneaking, he's asking about marksmanship. If you want to start a thread about sneaking, feel free to do so, but please, let's keep this thread on subject.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it just seems to me that there aren't that many powerful bows in this game
. And trust me, I'm the kind of gamer that really loves bowmen types, and so that's the first kind of character I made. Now I've really looked almost everywhere, and read tons of FAQs and Guides, but I've never found a decent bow
. Then again, I only have the original Morrorwind, without the 2 expansions, so maybe the expansion packs contain better ranged weaponry? All I know is, I finally had to switch to long blades on my bowman as my favored weapon to use, because in the end his bow just end up not cutting it for over half the battles ...

so if the person is trying to attack you with a sword and you have a bow can you still hit them with the bow when they are on you and if so does it help to have a higher level (will it be less acurate if they are on you than if they were away from you on the same marksman level)
.........gosh that was a crappy question. Ok, if you are level 20 and you start shooting they run up are you less likely to hit them.
And yes it is Maruchan like the noodles
the deadric Long bow is by far the best bow in the game (excluding enchanted) it does 2-50 damage. the problem is theres only like 3 in the game
the dwarven crossbow however does 30-30 damage so i prefer that
im also a bow type person i like standing on buildings like the gaurd towers in balamora and shooting unsaspecting civilians !!!!FUN!!!!
its not realy the bow but the arrows cause you can enchant them to do area damage but you can miss and itll take a long time to gather that many gems.

Markmanship
Well, when it comes to Markmanship... So far, since I start to play Morrowind, I have only used one character, Bosmer and Archer. The Longblade is at lvl 100 & now I'm using the steel longbow, trying not to use the longblade so much. Markmanship at lvl 50 and just use it, even in up close range. It's CAN get dangerous sometimes, but make sure you are armored up. just don't give up, because the more you use, the better the skill get.

I think the Daedric bow is too heavy for its own good. If you're playing as an archer, then strength probably shouldn't be a major attribute, right?
Oh, and about shooting arrows. If you just click the attack button, they won't go well, you need to hold i down to draw the arrow all the way back and steady your shot.

It's a lot like waiting to use a melee weapon in Morrowind, in that respect. And again, as in Morrowind, there's also something to be said for rushing things if 1) you want to keep an enemy off-balance in exchange for doing less damage, and 2) you don't mind less regular damage in exchange for quick, repetitive magical damage which is a feature of the arrow type.

I personally used the "Summoned Bow" (or what it was called - conjuration spell I belive), because it gave +10 to my bow skill, and you could get it at level 1 in Scyda Neen(sp?).
It didn't weigh anything, and did quite good damage, and when you get higher level, simply enchante a pair of gauntless or other item with a constant effect "Summoned Bow".
I found markmanship quite quite overpowering in the game. Especially with a good levitation
