Currently i'm soloing with a blade (bard kit), and i definitly like it. Not only does he have the advantage of effectively using buff spells like mirror image or fireshield (which are a bit useless for physically weak mages imho), he also has the excellent defensive and offensive spin ability, and can put 3 proficiency points in dual wielding. Atm, my blade is dual wielding Dak'kons Zerth Blade and a normal Katana +1, and i'm on my way to the Guarded Compound to get Celestial Fury. The only disadvantages are the relative high Thac0 and the fact that bards can not memorize spells higher than those of sixt level.

Welcome to the forums btw.

Well, let me be the first to give you a warm welcome to the GB forums LitHiuM ;)
Edit: crap, moltovir beat me to it.

Now to your question: "with which class would I solo?"
If I should solo SoA, I would probably -no, I know it with certainty- take a multiclass or tripleclass. I guess the tripleclass would be best, well, for me at least. A Fighter-Mage-Thief would be my class of choice then. Although he will be weak in the beginning, he'll be a powerhouse when the experience keeps piling up.
I like fighting, so that will be my mean style of 'taking-out-enemies'. However, I really want to open chests and venture through doorways without the fear of being killed in one hit, so a thief would be handy, too. And then there's the mage, who I think is a very necessary class when you solo and fight high-level monsters.

Archer-Kensai-Mage if we're going into that direction :p :D

Thank you for your interest in my thread LitHiuM.
Heh, the funny thing is that ever since I wrote my 'don’t-spam-here-message', no one is actually responding in the DJ thread anymore. Instead of that, I'm getting replies in other people's threads. Not that I complain or anything ;)

Personally, I would like to solo an assassin. At high levels you get the backstabx7 which will do TONS of damage. There are a lot of swords that work VERY well for backstabbing, and also with UAI you will be able to cast spells (from scrolls) and use all the other neat HLA's you get. Also, I love setting traps and leading enemies to it, or setting them right next to a door, open it, and whoever is near the door, BAAM! Very fun, and somewhat challenging (low hitpoints and restricted to studded leather max, until UAI.)

Hmm, something crappy/challenging... For that I would have to say a beastmaster, restricted to basically clubs and blunt weapons. Avengers have a few mage spells, chromatic orb is powerful IMO (lvl 12 druid casts it, save or die...) well, powerful for a druid anyways.

a save or else spell with a +6 bonus?

chromatic orb is only useful when used in conjunction with greater malison and/or doom. IIRC, druids don't get doom, making chromatic orb nigh on useless for a druid.

As soon as i find some time where my life isn't falling apart i'm going to continue my solo F/M/C - although still trying to decide whether to take staffs or CF+FoA (currently staff of rhynn)

i will find some time to solo with a ranger/cleric though. they are immense.

A wild mage. Simply because it would be good and difficult, and tons of fun.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Half orc wizard slayer dual wield ( only with tob or patches if they allow him to drink potions )

Failing that you could go human as a swashbuckler/cleric but i prefer to stay away from dubious dual classing and bards are pretty much a swiss army knife if someone can finish the game a bard can.

Fallen beastmaster. No contest.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

FMT for me, I am enoying my FMC but it does make the normally fun undead encounters extremely boring and easy. That and the HLAs are not as good. The only nice thing about FMC is I can use my 9th lvl spells for something other then planataers as you get plenty of Devas

Actually Irenicus' Dungeon is a piece of cake with an Avenger... you can finish the whole place without even resting ;)

Going solo through SoA right now with a sorcerer. Working out well. Most annoying aspect of playing a sorc has been outdoors encounters in Athkatla. I don't want to bribe the cowled wizards since I want to take them out.

After a few levels and some good eq this char gains some steam and with the flexibility of a sorc playing solo is not that bad.

I would say a Blade... For the Offensive/Defensive skill. Anyway, you don't need lore, pickpocket and the Bard Song.

A Swashbucler/Cleric would be nice too... never played with one.
