Strongholds

Post by Dreamweaver »

Ok...I have never got a stronghold, and before I devote many hours of gameplay to something I do not desire to get would be a waste. So, If you get a stronghold in lets say the Redoran House...can you somehow get out of the House to join another one...Im not asking if you can get 2 strongholds becuz i know you cant...but I was wondering if you can just get a stronghold from X guild...then leave X guild...and join Y guild and get a Y guild Stronghold? Cuz i hear house Televanni stronghold gives you the best items...so I would like to get those items...then quit that house..and join a different one to get a different stronghold.

no... the houses are tough like that. I found that out to my misfortune when I started off in hlaalu and tried to get kicked otu to join telvani, they just wouldnt let me even if i killed all the council memebers and was expelled 10 times. you are stuck with what you start with

I am not sure I agree that telvani has the best items though, you get quite a lot of money from the ebony weapons located in redoran and Hlaalu, but the Telvani tower is just plain cooler, visually at least. its harder to get around in and the lighting leaves somethign to be desired (you can fix that by stealing all the candels and lanterns from everywhere you go and just dropping them on your desk and bed though).

Ya I saw the pictures of the Telvanni Stronghold and I think it looks disgusting...i hear its cool...and I prematurely agree...but ive read that you have to levitate to get to your room...and there is virtually no storage space...and its a problem to actually get anywhere...and the guards...well...the lights are on but no one is home......

Basically what i want to know is what items do you get from the Redoran house quests/missions...Hlaalu house quests/missions...and the Telvanni House quests/missions? Up to and past the stronghold...cuz if its just items to sell and get cash for...I can go hunt golden saints.......But I want to make sure im not missing out on some uber items by choosing one house over the other.

Oh, telvani defenitely has teh best item benefites... all the way. and I think there is jsut as much storage space in telvani as in hllalu, possibly more. but for items, in telvani quests you can get very nicely enchanted daedric armor, something that commands and dominates humand 15 pts for 120 seconds (i think that was the time, and that is a SWEET enchantment), a cool ring (coming from a guy who has most all of the rings in the game)... just tons of awesome stuff. i dont know about redoran, they might have better stuff, but I doubt it. Besides if you dont like the stronghold, go to the hllalu one, kill everyone, and presto! its yours.

How can you go to the stronghold and kill everyone if it doesnt exist yet?

That kicks a**! But do you get your name on the stronghold you built? And do you get special options for your own stronghold? and what other personal things affect the stronghold if YOU own it?

Yeah, Telvanni's is by far the best stronghold of any, Hlaalu's is SO easy to get - SPOILER (check out GameFAQs.com - if you kill Orvis Dren (I think it's Dren, Don't quite remember), then talk to House Hlaalu head, you automatically get promoted to 2nd-highest level, more thenn enough for complete stronghold "domination"). END SPOILER. It is totally up to you and your class.
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.

*sigh* as far as i can tell, there are no customizations. the stronghold looks the same if I have it as when the computer does, and they dont really give you any options. the souls you use in telvani dont make a difference... you can put up your own decorations inside, and lure your own guards (have the people in escort missions follow you to the house then tell them to stay there, yes I am still proud of my naked nord army) but architecturally you cant do anything.

FABLE, HES ON XBOX!!! no list of mods where you can have an diamond palace filled with mountains of gold and belly dancers, or his own personal Skar-shell mansion that flots around on the sea...

So I should do the Telvanni House Quests cuz my Stronghold can really be any place I want it to...and getting the cool items is the plus for House Telvanni...right?

By the time you get a Stronghold, you're well on your way to having godlike power. At that point, it doesn't make sense to join the rogues' house or the warriors' house. Telvanni wizards are the most powerful individuals on Vvardenfell, and you should make sure you're the most powerful of them. Yes, that does mean getting your own tower (and casting Lock 100 on the front door and flying or jumping up to the chimney to get in), and killing anyone who is arguably more powerful than you.
Another fun thing to do is to stand in the foyer, cast Mark, then enter the dungeon and cast Lock 100 on the door, then cast Recall. You'll have a door that's unlocked on one side and Locked 100 on the other. A valve.

oooh bean! thats an excellent idea! i will collect another army of naked nords, AND LOCK THEM IN THE DUNGEON!!!!!!!! MWAHAHHAHAHA! then i will be a vampire and they will be the cattle. a telvani vampire mage lord in his dark tower guarded by menacing constructs (who admittedly dont have much goin in the brains department) and a dungeon full of slaves he feeds upon. watch out dracula!

@ fable... i just dont want you to break another player's heart because he spent 50 bucks on the wrong game...

You forgot Aryon's Helper. Frost, Storm and Fire Atronachs. And it's got an insane charge so you can use it over and over.

Gimme gimme gimme

I want my stronghold! I joined the house telvanni. Did al the required quests. Am spellwright or spellcaster or something. Aryon says, IF you have a stronghold, you become wizard. Thus, I go see the contructor, get the required papers and soulgems. She now says, contruction of your stronghold will begin soon. Fine I think. Now in the game I'm four weeks later and if I go back to the hermitage, she still says 'contruction of you stronghold will begin soon'. AAAHH, how long do I have to wait. I don't want the house perse, I got a good one in Balmora (with my own laboratory haha!! I'm the mad scientist) . But I want to level up. There are no more chores to be done! Done them all.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or should it be finished by now? How long did your contruction take?

so you talked to her again, now you have to wait a while longer. in the mean time, collect a million travel lanterns and candels for your room... as i said earlier, telvani arent big on proper lighting.
