Fenced goods and stealing

Post by Kheruldin »

I wonder one thing about stealing. I read a post some days ago in the topic "how fast can you complete BG2?" that a guy had Yoshimo drink a lot of masterthiefing-potions and had him run around and steal a lot of things. But i cant hardly find somewhere to steal. I have 280 in pickpocket but either there are no Steal-icon or everythime it fails. Ok... i have stolen some like in normal stores but i gain no profit for that. And is it only in thiefsguild i can sell these stuff i have stolen? I know it does not work in normal stores.

There are various "merchants" selling stolen goods. Try selling to them.

the idea is to buy something big like Baulder's plate and sell/steal it over and over. You'll over 50k gp per minute. It is kinda cheezy that they buy what you just stole from them, but then again they are probably less than intelligent cosidering their occupation.

Speaking of stolen items... And this may be a SPOILER here...

The Helm group at the top of Watcher's Keep where you can buy and sell items... I have a +2 Halberd, can't even remember who I picked it up from. I think it was one of the fights on the 1st Watcher's Keep level. Well, when I try to sell it to the cleric outside, she says she doesn't "fence" stolen items! I was only a little P'Oed! Not sure why she'll buy other stuff from dead folks, but not that item.
"Think on this, arrogant mageling: even the mightiest archmage has no spells strong enough to let him cheat death. Some take the road of lichdom... a living death. The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

Because it's cheesey, makes the game too easy, and lessens the challenge and thrill you receive from really testing your strategic skills? :D ;)

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I don't remember using a Potion of Master Thievery (boy am I dense or what?!) when I pickpocketed at the Thieves' Guild with Jan. I just kept selling the full plate +2 over and over again. Reloading when necessary. Heh potion of master thievery...I should use them later...

Hmmm...i did also get a huge amount of gold when i play, but not in that way. And since i have completed it quite alot of times did i want to make it a bit faster this time...and thats much easier when you have money to buy good stuff arent it?
So its not necessary or for "fun" its just another way to play it, a way i have never tried
