Completed chapter four but cannot get into Baldur's gate

I can get across the bridge but cannot get into the city. Could it be a level thing? Two of my characters are still fifth level. When I finished the Cloakwood mines, I did not trip the switch in the elevator. Could that be the cause? Thanks in advance.

Not likely, can you talk to Quale or whatever the gnome guy is called at the end of the bridge? if you can then its a matter of clicking the right spot, because its tricky to get into BG due to the archway that leads to the entrance and the fog of war.

Just move your characters as far to the left side of the screen as possibile once you cross the bridge and see if you can explore past the fog of war, i know i had this problem at times myself, its not a bug just need to be careful about finding the entrance.

You did flood the mines, did you?

Usually the Chapter changes when you grab the scrolls from the chests
