Where would you like to live in Vvardenfell?

Post by fable »

Just curious. It's easy enough to grab a house in most towns or cities--even if that means killing the inhabitants in-doors, then dropping off all your goods somewhere else and paying a fine. (Yes, I know. Morrowind is extremely civilized in this respect.) Alternatively, if you're walking the PC side of the street, you can download a mod and get a home in many locations, including at least one in midair, and another in a submarine.

So the question is, where would you like to live, if given your choice of locations in Vvardenfell? Uh-uh, this isn't about selecting the kind of abode. Just where it would be. Over to you. :)

hmmm... For the sake of pure scenery, lack of violent duststorms, and convenience (including travel to the mainland, because if I lived in a world I would defenitley not be content to sit in one place the whole time) I would say West Gash region, somewhere near Gnaar Mok or Khuul perhaps.

BUT if we are playing morrowind time, meaning there is a monster war about to break out over the land with the crumpelingn of the empire, defenitely by Sadrith Mora.

While I am most confident of my ability to hold off a regiment or so (a few hundred guys right?) I dont know how long even my godlike character could last against a full army. Of course I would hire guards and stuff... but even the toughest morrowind character would go down fast. If I lived near the Telvanni on the other hand... My character is the Arch Magister of a house of super wizards. I have at least 5 council members who can cast spells and summon like nobody's business, and a horde of underlings in their various wizard towers I can call upon. Thats where I would be safest, and the scenery isnt all that bad either.

Even though you specifically said not to put it, my imagination is loving this so I will tell you exactly what kind of house I would want (if you dont like it, then feel free to stop reading). I think Master Ayron had teh right idea with Tel Vos. A strong Imperial style fortress combined with the enchanted Telvani mustroom house. only mine would be bigger, with more soldiers, better lighting, and wider staricases and passageways so i didnt get stuck every 3 seconds. :D and i wouldnt want to levitate up to my room every time i felt like a nap... i dunno i would have to recruit yagrum the dwarf to work out engineering specifics.

I was going to say Mournhold but then I realised it's not on Vvardenfell.

With the options left available I'd go with Ald-Ruhn. The size of the city is above average, there's all what a normal adventurer needs and there's a lot of empty space next to the temple which is perfectly suited for the manor I'd build there. Because of the presence of both House Redoran and the Fighters' Guild the city is quite peaceful and every bypassing troublemaker would re-think before entering the city.

When things get boring there's always the surrounding wilderness that just waits there to be explored. Who knows what treasure the nearby tombs and caves hold?

And as for the unpleasant ashstorms, who knows? Maybe someday some great hero will find a way to stop them...

Suran.

Come to Suran, it is the perfect location for your dream home! Full transport services to Vivec City or Balmora via Silt Strider, with the picturesque river on the edge of town, Suran is well suited to your travel needs, whether by Silt Strider, or by boat, although a commercial service is not avaliable at this time, we hope that one day it will be*.

Suran's features:

Home to the only brothel in Vvardenfell, just what you need after a hard day's questing!

Full native religion catered for with a Dunmer temple for all your needs!

Bars, inns and taverns abound!

For the archer, the wonderful archery store**, with bows avaliable that are found nowhere else on Vvardenfell, arrows, quivers, and even archers armour and hood!

Sits on the border of two of Vvardenfell's most exciting regions! The Ascadian Isles and Molag Amur.

Historial sites nearby include the legendary ruins of Bal Ur!

And of course the veiw... A vast expanse of rolling hills and picturesque lakes to the West, and a stunning mountain range to the north, with a georgous river that goes almost direct to Vivec City, Suran is Vvardenfell's most exciting town!

* Looking for mod
** Have mod installed

No prizes for guessing my town... I feel very silly for typing all that out, but its done now so I'll leave it. My advert for the Suran tourist board if they want it.

The town I like most is Ebonheart - but I could only live there if I were either an Argonian, a true capitalist, a soldier in the Imperial Legion, a priest or a dirty politician. Well, I'm none of that. So I take...ehm....Dagon Fel. I like the chilly climate, the Nords with their rough way of life...especially the female ones and the whole atmosphere up there...really a lonely place and stuff. Dagon Fel would be my choice.

You could live in Ebonheart if you are Nord.

The town I like best is Suran, and it's NOT because of the brothel. I just love the scenery.

Or alternatively, any place near Sheogorath regions, or a place in the grazelands, will suit me just fine.

I'd probably live somewhere in the grazelands. The scenery is nice, and there's almost nothing for miles around. I'd probably live near Vos or one of the Ashlander tribes so at least I'd be near people.
I wanted to change my sig, but I can't think of anything to change it to :(

Nope, they have no residences. Well, yes, I could live inside a guard tower under the stairs or in a jailcell after a midnight brawl at the 'Six Fishes', but...you know...

LOL! And that would make Tel Vos, what? The Maistricht of Vvardenfell? :D

I'd probably go for Balmora. Active place, lots to do and see. Plus you're not constantly underground, as you are in Vivec.

I'd live in Solsthiem and tease/bother/haunt the little Hugh Grants in Fortsmouth! :D I would probably live in a little cabin somewhere in the middle of the island, making it hard for the Mr. Grants to find me, not like they could catch a cold, naked in Solstheim

Sorry to disappoint you but it's a shell. The shell of an ancient emperor crab. :D

Edit: And yes, Solstheim is not on Vvardenfell. It's north from the island. Just like Mournhold is not a part of Vvardenfell either.

Yes, Solstheim is out of Vvardenfell, else I would've chosen Raven Rock. It's, hmmm, so homey.

Typically I would opt to be a nomad, going where I please when I get tired of the same group of people. But since this doesn't answer the question posed I figure I would settle down in Zafirbel Bay.

Just think: your private island surrounded by cities containing the best mages on the continent, all the fishing and cliffracer shooting you could ever want to do in a lifetime, and treasure hunting on the multiple shipwrecks along the rocky coast. Don't forget the institute for the victims of an incurrable disease that mutilates the body and mind just off to the south! :D ;)

Definetely Caldera! It's sooooo beautiful and warm during a storm\rain! It feels so at home! I'd love to live there in RL... But I've been taking so much screenshots of Khuul recently.. and that cute island with the campfire and waterfall...
