dual classing a barbarian

Post by Ned Flanders »

I guess the subject says it all. In going through the manual, I didn't find anywhere that directly said you may not dual class a barbarian. Also, does anyone have a list of ability requistes for each class, my players handbook is long gone.

None of the new, 3rd edition, classes have the ability to dual/multi in BG2. Since BG2 is technically a 2nd edition game, there were no rules set in place about dual/multi barbarians, monks, and sorcerers. Bioware took the easy way out and copied the vast majority of dual/multi code from the original BG, they didn't bother incorporating the new classes.

Besides, in 3rd edition any class can dual/multi with any other class. Since that is not the case in 2nd edition, there's a big loophole Bioware would have to cover.

Actually, there is a mod for this. Check out Beige Tangerine's very nice website. Apparently the game engine considers the barbarian just another fighter kit. The barbarian/thief is a very cool dual class.

@ shampoohorn

great first post. barbarian thief is exactly what I wanted to do. Created Conan the barbarian and wanted to do barbarian 12 or 15/thief to max level. I think it would be a vicious dual class. Maybe not as versatile as kensai/thief but with a lot more hit points
