Swoop racing on Tatooine, what am I missing?

Post by AJMBLAZER2 »

Okay, I don't hit things, try to do a smooth line out to the right then back in the center following the boost pads all the way and can't get better than 24's. Drop the screen down to 800x600 at 60 Hz, the lowest settings, and get rid of every bit of extra "detail" in the graphics. Again, can't get better than 24's. WTH?

I've moved on and am on Kashyyk (sp?) now and am doing fine on the quests, but I want all the money from Tatooine if I can get it. The fancy weapons and arms aren't cheap! :D

Any advice? I did fine on Taris, but haven't even been to Manaan yet. Is the race there necessary?

No, you'll get plenty of credits along the way.

I gave up on the swoop racing, got close to the time to reach, but it seemed like it would require too much training and I was very curious about the rest of the game.

I personally used the easy swoop mod because otherwise it takes so much time :o

I think he means the part you get on Taris to modify only that swoop. But it's not available for your use on any other planet, nor are any other swoop modifying parts.

??? well not trying to boast or anything but i don't understand what's the difficulty on the swoop racing?

you get a boost when you shift as soon as the indicator hits red, you should see some additional "flames"? coming from your engines, if you succeed in swithing gears and hitting those boosts+ avoiding the debris, you should easily get smth like 22:30 and less..

i don't remember my times exactly(have to go to bed) but i completed manaan without too much difficulty.. you just have to do it over and over couple more times, you'll get the time beaten..

yea it was hard when i first raced on tatooine, took me two hours of racing to get 22+ and still couldn't beat the 3rd tier on tatooine so i just simply quited, figuerd that it was not worth the time aniways

Heh... Manaan and Tatooine swoop racing are both worth it... especially if you're a Light-side goodie-goodie who still wants the awesome toys you can buy towards the end of the game.

My strategy: Save after you beat each racing level/tier so as to avoid paying insane amounts of race fees.

I think I beat both Manaan and Tatooine with about 12-15 races each... Most of those being to get the 3rd tier. But 5000 credits/80 bonds is worth it. :D

Also: Sell all the crap you aren't gonna use. First time i played through, I hung on to just about *everything* which was really dumb. :P On my second game (I'm about to beat it again), I've bought a lot of the cool goodies. :)

edit: The bonds are worth around 160 creds on yavin station, if you haven't heard. ;)

my best time on a swoop is 22.01. its really easy to do once you get a feel for it. when you're gonna hit a pad, look ahead to see where the next one is. if pad #2 is on the left of pad #1, then when you hit pad #1, hit it from the right side swinging to the left. then when you get to pad #2 you'll already be sliding over it. basically, your path should look like a snake...lots of smooth turns. and if that doesn't work, you might try some mind altering substances...
you know, like NyQuil 'cause I dont advocate the use of anything illegal :D
good luck
