BG3 - future or fantasy

Post by Rob-hin »

Frankly, I STILL don't believe it. :D
I hope, but don't think so...

What do you think?

PS. No jokes about BG being a fantasy genre game. :p

If it is done good - I would like to see a BG3.
If done bad and only tyring to recapitalize on the name - then no thanks :)

However -I think it is only a time before we see it. I would be surprised if such a name as BG is going to stay unspend :D

Correct, the name alone will sell millions of copies.

Let's hope they don't take advantage of this...

I think it's highly likely that it'll be made. Firstly, because it'll sell a ridiculous amount of copies, and secondly because when people actually palyed NWN and realized that it wasn't the BGIII they thought it'd be they were upset. If it does happen however I believe(and hope) they just use the same setting but in no way affiliate it with the previous games because the story's over and a continuation would be absurd. And if it's done as well as the first two it'll be just fine.

They would be crazy not to make it, honestly the game could be crappy the name will get sales, just like POR, i bet a lot of people who played the original one some 20 years ago where dissapointed at the new one.

I'm just rather iffy over the fact that they'll be using the name, nothing more, to sell the game, since it really probably won't have anything to do with the Bhaalspawn saga. Nothing at all.

I'd probably appreciate it more if they just used a normal, new name, rather then capitalizing on us. I mean, we've already been caught up in feverish excitement over a game that has a good chance of having nothing to do and being nothing like the previous BG games.

Damn those corporate bastards! ;)

I hope its a similar engine to BG2, I really hated the NWN engine, I hate it, why do they have to be 3d, BG and Fallout have the best looking game views I've ever seen, I love them. I really hope they keep it old school (ish..)

Fallout 3 is looking all 3d and that blows, I just hope there not gonna be ****s with this too.

Seeing as no screenshots of FO3 is released, that is quite a statement. :D

All "Fallout 3" screenshots that are currently existing are from the project called "Van Buren" which were to become Fallout 3, but Interplay cut down Black Isle and thus killed the project.

However, Bethesda has just purchased the licens to produce Fallout 3 (and at least some possible sequals).

Thus one has to differentiate between "Van Buren Fallout 3" (which most likely stays dead) material and the new upcomming Bethseda Fallout 3.

I just hope that it does not turn out like Deus Ex 2.

The first game was brilliant and the second one, (personal preference), well do I need to say anything at all.

Well they're using a modified aurora engine for NWN2 so why they'd use the same engine for a game which I would rather not have associated with NWN is highly likely.

Well, according to the poll it's only a matter of time before we'll be playing BG3. :)

Well, I'M DYING to play BG III, but deep in my heart I believe that BG II was such a professional, astonishingly fantastic game that it cannot be exceeded. So, I'm afraid I (along with many others who fell in love with the BG games) expect too much :(

Frankly, I don't want to see BG3 made. Simply put, it doesn't provide anything new to the series, and will more than likely be butchered.

Agreed, the BG saga was made by creative programmers who themselves played Dungeons and Dragons, Pen and Paper.
Now, commerce takes over. Bye bye creativity.
