Something new in Aerie's Romance Angle?

Post by yaanathn »

I installed Throne of Bhaal, but had decided to first finish Shadows of Amn to its fullest. In chapter six, I went to the circus tent in Waukeen's Promenade to see Quayle (the gnome messenger showed up three chapters ago, but I was bent on getting Imoen first and then doing side quests to raise her experience as closely to everyone else's as possible). However, when I went in, and my main character went up to speak with Quayle, he would only say something along the lines of:

"Hello, Folken, are you doing well?"

So then I take Aerie and move her a step towards him, and suddenly dialogue breaks out, and, SPOILER ALERT (I think), the to talk about how my main is "more than a friend" and how Quayle would love to see the two of them for a week. The dialogue ends with Aerie saying "A week then. Until then..." and Quayle answers, "Until then."

BUT THEN the dialogue KEEPS on initializing right after itself, to the point that it did so some seven times before I got my party out of there!

Can somebody tell me the meaning of this? I'm going to still see Raelis Shai (I was told you didn't have to speak to Quayle to get that quest going). I've already gone through the game once, so I know that Aerie's romance doesn't get here.

I've noticed that Throne of Bhaal makes little adjustments to Shadows of Amn (more random parties, sound bytes, music, etc.), is this one of them?

Confused.

No, are you currently in a romance with Aerie? Because if "AerieRomanceActive" global is 2, then Quayle will say those things. Also, if you have Aerie in your party for four days, and you're not in a dungeon, then a messenger will come telling you to go and see Quayle again - only if you haven't started Realis' quest yet. I think there is a time limit for this.

Hmm, that's a known issue with SOA (happened to me as well) only way out of it is to slowly inch your party toward the exit then scoot.

I'd have thought with the expansion installed this bug would have been taken care of. Did you install any of Kevin Dorner's patchs? if so he has a de-installer on his site, use that then patch the game with the official patch coming from Bioware.

If that that doesn't work I wouldn't worry about it too much its isolated to that circus tent.

Thanks for the assurances, then, people. No, I haven't installed Kevin's patches to the best of my knowledge (I don't know what those are). I guess it's off to the circus tent for me, then.

You can find his bug fixes here. They solve a lot of problems that was found in Shadow of Amn, only use them if you don't have ToB installed.
