PC screen settings, lightness/darkness

Post by AJMBLAZER2 »

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. Every time I run KOTOR on my computer on the default settings it's so damn dark you can't see anything. Everything is some shade of black or dark grey. So I have to adjust the lightness darkness bar on the graphics options screen about 85% of the way to the light side. The annoying part is that I can't set it that way. Every time I turn the game on I have to go in and readjust this setting.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to get around it?

Um... You know... Your monitor has brightness settings too... :p

But if you're looking for a fix in the game, I think you're just going to have to live with it.

never had this problem.
Could be problems with your monitor or videocard.
Try updating drivers, changing brightness on monitor, and patching the game.

My monitor isn't dark at all, I actually have it biased towards "the light side" on it's regular settings. Never had this problem with any other games or programs. Also, when I turn off KoTOR the screen stays a lighter shade than it was before.

I'm just living with it for now. A slightly annoying glitch to an otherwise good game.

If you'd like, I can move this thread to the Tech forum. It sounds like a video card problem, and we've got some pretty good people who could think about it.

You could alter Gamma (light) in the graphic cards settins as well - although that can give a more distorted colorscheeme, but it could help you when gaming.

Is this only with SW:KotOR you have this problem or are all games (to) dark?

I have that problem too with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, when it crashes.

Only with KoTOR. I have had to adjust Medal Of Honor and Call Of Duty, but both times it was just a one time adjustment. All other games have been fine.
