Should Morrowind be online?
Should Morrowind be online? This is a question that passes my mind almost everytime I turn on my X-box to play morrowind. I know I'm not the only guy with this question on his/her mind. If this was ever to happen... well... let's just say I'd be one of the first people to buy it. It would be REALLY cool, I mean some people could like own their own store or something and if no one would want to run it he could sell it to an A.I. or if someone needed to get something in Tel Aruhn but was in Seyda Neen and was to lazy to go, he could pay someone to get it for him... well you get the idea right? So what do you think?
never going to happen
That wasn't the question. The question was should it happen. I say IT BETTER OR I'M GONNA... BE TICKED. I heard it was... Isn't it? In my opinion, that would be the greatest thing ever for Morrowind. Possibly even better than the addition of horses.

I never took the time to stop and realize that death takes many forms... even while alive.

I see one problem with playing Morrowind online -
Currently, when you want to use your inventory, a spell, or such, you open the appropriate screen and time stops for you. In other words, you might spend more than one minute digging up potions, spells and other effects you'll want to use in an instant. The game needs this pause for you to play your character effectively, whether you are reliant on potions, or spells. (if you're a magician, you need time to scroll through your spells to choose a spell).
Now, imagine if Morrowind were to be online. This would mean that the game would not pause for you. After all, you can't freeze the world while you open your spell list while there is another player running around too. This could limit the game-play.
Also, keep in mind that anybody in Morrowind can be killed, including important NPCs and shopkeepers. Unless they changed it so that you can have them unkillable in some servers, you could very well log in, and find no opportunities for quests since a high level character was going around killing everyone.
Anyway, I think the game was created without the possibility of making it online, unless a new game, Morrowind Online, is developed.

Totally agree.

It WOULD be easier to just NOT figure it out, and just go ahead and make a better single player game than Morrowind. It would certainly make the game more enjoyable.
The evil nature of GameBanshee revealed below!
GameBanshee sells Xandax to make ends meet
Then, as if that was not enough, they decide to get rid of me via sweepstakes as well

I think the question isn't correct. The question should be: WHY isn't Morrowind online???
I LOVE the first-person view, all the other genre of games are online compatible. Like Rainbow Six 3, it's first-person view game too & it's online compatible.
I would love to play Morrowind online, like Everquest. That would be the best. Of course, it won't be level-based characters, but keeping the races & occupations. Each player pick his combination & enter the server. Those who like to use magic can sit and camp, while they scroll through the spell list.

There are better Online games then Morrowind and I'd rather play them then Morrowind, if it went online. Besides, Morrowind online? Isn't that just Everquest? I dunno... they've got the same races and style in art. Fighting system is basically the same too. There's more things to do in everquest too, I bet. The only thing I can think of that sets Morrowind apart is the spell system. Where there isn't many spells, but you can edit them.
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
I may be bad, but I feel good.

There's no interest at Bethsoft in figuring out these "problems," though. They're quite happy in developing an international, singleplayer hit RPG, with a branded product and a relatively large, loyal following. Making a multiplayer game would require an enormous outlay of cash for personnel, development and equipment. I've visited their Maryland offices several times for interviews, and they've assured me they're too smart to expand in that direction.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
