Transport crystals ?

Ok,sometimes when i use these things i get a message saying that i was taken off course and end up in a area where i have to fight my way through to the exit crystal.What is this all about?

That's what they do.... there's a chance you'll get sent to an alternate plane where you'll have to fight monsters appropriate for your level, and then get transported somewhere. I have a feeling it has to do with luck because my luck is pretty crappy and it happens every time I try, so I don't bother any more.

Save the game before you enter any Crystal, then reload the game if you get taken off course.

I normally just go though the etheral plane because the area is quite small and there aren't that many enemies.

and you get xp for the kills anyways so why not...

i do the same thing. and they do get harder at higher levels...
