Did you click on the statue's face?

The face definitely works. That's what I did. Other parts might.

You do have your volume turned up, right? I don't think the quest comes in a dialog box, but it's been a while--i could be wrong.

I had the same problem, and I got slightly frustrated until I realized that you're supposed to click the head of the NEW statue, and not the sunken one! Problem solved... :-)

New statue...? I was directed to the sunken statue, and that's the head I clicked on to get the dialog. There's no new statue until you first get the quest from the sunken one.

Perhaps, but it is intended for upper-level characters. You originally aren't supposed to learn about the "sunken ruins" until you ask The Khajiiti Liar about it, and by the time your character is powerful enough to even be in the Sheogorad region the entire quest is more of an interlude from shooting cliff racers for fun than anything.

Besides, when you look at Goldbrand's stats its admittedly not a great weapon, considering it was the long sword of a Daedric god. Frankly, I think Keening is the biggest cheese weapon in the original game. :)

no you get the mission from the sunken head then you go to jabashas and get the book (the glory of boethium) or somthin then talk to the guy on the top of gnorak marnor (same building as creeper) with 2000 gold then in a month or so he builds the statue then you talk to tre statue and you get goldbrand simple dont you think :)

You get the mission from the sunken head at first. Then, after going through the motions and finishing the new statue, you have to ckick on the new statue to get the sword. First time i did the quest I went back to the sunken shrine, and kept on clicking the loose head. Of course, the old soul moves as soon as it has a new shrine to go to! :)
