You need a Rogue - I'd go with Jan. Otherwise you're fine.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Anybody. As has been said often in these forums, there are no losing party arrangements. You can win with any combination--or solo. It just depends in part on how easy you want the game to be, and how much of a powergamer you are.
To round things out you might want a druid--though a sorc could be good, too. Among the BG2 mods are a pair of sorcs, Kelsey and Tashia. You can find out more details about 'em by reading the mod sticky thread, at the top of the page.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Maybe you could download Alassa or Hessan? They are both Evil pure Thieves. Edwin will then be your only spellcaster, but he has alot of spells slots.
Alassa and Hessan are One-Day-NPCs, and you can find them on www.pocketplane.com

Another good fit for your party is Yoshimo and/or Imoen.
Yoshi is Neutral, and I know Imoen's alignment is contrary to your party's, but she grew up with you, considers you a big brother to her, and won't leave your side (unless dismissed), even if you murder everybody in the game!

the sage advice on BGII potential ease no matter what aside, I'd go for Imoen. While she may not be able to advance her levels anymore as a thief, a few potions can fix that. Or, if you're really desperate and hate Jan, you could try dual-classing Valygar (as a last resort - he's not the best for it).

I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.
Haer'Dalis can be powerful when well-equiped. He's the only one who can use Bard Equipement. (A few Harps and a really nice chainmail). His High lore is really useful to identify items, and his pickpocket can be quite useful too if you don't want to waste money for potions or scrolls. Offensive/Defensive spin are really great abilities.
Jaheira is strong too, but she can use only a few weapons (Staves, Spears, Scimitars, Slings and few other weapons).

yes Jaheira can only use those weapons, but how many of your other characters use them? it's a good way to bring some variety into your group. Jaheira with the staff of rhynn or dual weilding belm and a good club/scimitar (rashod's talon, water's edge) is an awesome melee prospect.
[EDIT] and not to forget the impaler spear - 1d6+10 damage

Loose Korgan, no need as you are a Fighter yourself. Then get Jaheira (for backup fighting and Druid spells), Jan (you want a Thief, truly...) and Haer'Dalis (cause Bards are the best). Now you got a versatile and able party!

Life seems short considering how long you will be dead.
I'm thinking about HAER'DALIS is he good? Is he better then Jaheira?
Prox, don't leave him out if you're looking for a good time
As mentioned above, he's quite effective in battle, too, and at higher level he's got astonishing powers (like Time Trap, Use Any Items, Offesnive Spin, and other stuff). Also, he's such an entertaining company, the journey will be half as fun without him
