ICe Temple - Battle Squares rewards

Hi,

When I got through the Ice Temple I didn't do all the Battle Sqaure challenges (I was playoing on Insane difficulty and getting munched on by Glabrezu's). Just wanted to know what the best rewards people got from the Battle Squares challenges were.

I'm almost finished the game and haven't found many of the good items listed in the Gamebanshee spoiler (I know many are only available in HoF, but I haven't even found their 'basic' version - my cleric is still using the ). I'm guessing that some must be rewards from the Battle Sqaure challenges, so please let me know what the best Items you've got from the 'Squares.

Do you get much in the way of experience rewards too?

in normal battle square has revards of XP... jewels.. and +4or+5 spear... and +4or+5 short sword... and dragoon belt..

Did you complete all the ranks? What type and level char did you fight with?

so nobody has got unique items like Cliffs over Targos or other named items or items with special abilities?

also for anyone who's managed to play HoF mode, what sort of xp do you get for killing your early enemies? Do you level up fast with a full party of 6?

well with six player party played trough normal and then in Hof... well goblins give 300xp each... and unlike in normal there is lot of those little creatures...

+ you can buy those unique items where you bought earlier version of that item... or found... allmost all unigue name stuff gets new version of that thing...

IIRC I was able to get quite a bit of experience from the battle squares. As annoying as it was, I went through the entire thing one battle at a time with my tank. Took a bloody long time, but I think it was worth it.

What I received from it was a bunch of gold (not that gold seems to be a problem in this game LOL) many gems, and items. The item that I was happy to get (and still have in a backup slot for my cleric near the end of Chapter 5) was the Mace of Disruption. I don't have it's spec's right now (I'm at work, and the game is at home.... love being self employed LMAO) but the nice thing about this mace was that it has a good chance of 'disrupting' or auto-destroying undead and other-planetary creatures. It actually REALLY helped in the battle squares as, in many cases, I would just run through an entire rank in minutes having disrupted most of the creatures sent at me.

Now, I am not absolutely sure of this, but the Mace of Disruption seems to have a higher chance of destroying the undead than even my clerics Turning ability (of course, this would be different depending on turning abilities).

All in all, I love this mace and when I run into a group of undead, it beats a bloody path through em.

thanks for the info, I think I'll try and get through the lot in HoF mode.

The one annoying thing I've found in IWD2 is that most of the good weapons available can only be found in the Severed Hand, the last place you need to conquer so you don't get much time to use them! There are some good items like Massive Halberd of Hate and Valorfoe you can get earlier, but things like the Chain of Drakkas, Greatswords of the Soulless, Battleaxe of Burning etc. and so on only appear in the Severed Hand.

I was hoping some of them were available in the Battle Squares challenge, and I'm glad to hear that at least some decent rewards can come from it.

there are quite alot of things u get from the battle squares some more usefull than others.

Abishai Hide Armor, Throwing Axe of Shocking Burst, Club of Disruption, Composite Longbow of Empowerment, Ice Spear +4, Wand of the Dead and Brilliant Short Sword +5.

I'm not 100% sure about the Throwing Axe that might have come from something else, and i got all these rewards on Normal mode.
Other stuff u get is alot of darts and different arrows, gems, jewels and a heap of gold ~700-1700 depending on rank.

btw u get the Club of Disruption at rank 5 or 6 ;o
