Watchers Keep in SOA Question

Post by concluder1 »

Currently playing through SOA I have done most of the quests in Athkatla, just finished up trademeet and De'Arnise Keep, I noticed Watchers Keep was available on my map, so I traveled there. My question is should I wait to TOB before taking on this level, I have not yet been through TOB before, so I don't know anything about Watchers Keep.

Any help would be appreciated

Doing WK before TOB really makes SoA easier. There are some great weapons and alot of XPs in WK.

Generally I head to WK early to get a couple of storage items and then leave it for TOB.

From what you say, you should be high enough level. It should be a nice challenge, but doable. I found WK to be very enjoyable and interesting, and definitely recommend going there, even in SoA. You'll pick up a some nice items and a lot of XP.

The one thing to watch is if you go there, and you get some message like "maybe you should go get more experience and come back later ...", you should listen. It means you're really too low a level, and while they'll let you in, the monsters will be downgraded, and you'll miss out on some items.

There are a few items you'll pick up that are meant to be combined into more powerful artifacts, but you won't be able to do that until ToB. However, that just means you have to carry them around with you until then - not a big deal.

Do not enter the first level of the keep if your level is too low. You will mis out on a very very good sword.

My main character is currently level 11 ranger. Is this high enough?

I entered it on level 18 with my blade and still didn't get it. Also you can't return at a higher level, because the amount of spawned enemies is set when you enter the level. I got frustrated and CLUA'ed the sword in when i was lvl 25.

Strange ... I think I was around 13th level Archer when I first entered, and I'm pretty sure I got the sword you're refering to ... that was awhile back though, so I could be wrong. Last few trips have been solo's, so I would've been much higher. (Also XP-wise, 13th level Archer and 18th level Blade are pretty close).

In any case, 11th is likely too low - you'll probably want to go do one or two more major quest before entering WK.
