Gromnir is supposedly the mad Half-Orc mayor of Saradush (It's rumored that he may even be a Bhaalspawn). He's named after one of the regular posters on the Black Isle message board (Who always refers to himself in the third person).

There were actually a number of board members who received less then flattering cameos in Shadows of Amn. That Wolfwere who was in love with Coran was actually a poster who was mad that he wasn’t an NPC in BG2. And the Imp smith who works in your Abyssal Fortress in ToB is named after a poster named Cespenar.

Hey! I thought the Imp's name would be Kevin D.

Yeah that would be pretty cool. Kevin Dorner himself joked about how if he'd appear in a cameo he'd probably be a mage who's spell fizzles and he wipes himself out of existence when he tries to fix the bugs.
