Well - untill we know if the game is being made and the graphics engine is announced it would be purly speculations.

I doubt it though - if the game is being made it would most likely display a form of 3D graphics instead of drawed 2D graphics.

The PC Gamer article explicitly stated that Baldur's Gate 3 will NOT reuse the Infinity Engine and will be 3D, but also they are not yet certain whether they will license an engine or develop their own.

I would sell one of my toes for a whole series of Baldur's Gate'ish (style, setting... as in Faerun, and intricate plot/characters) games using the infinity engine.

I just hope someone talented wants it enough to create it! the engine is so damn key!

Creating a new game now with a 5-year old engine would be the same as re-releasing the Citroen Traction-Avant :| You have to move on with the time.

Agreed.

I think this "worrying" about BG3 is starting to be annoying.

We know very little, and nothing much is actually released from offical channels (such as Atari). So wait with painting the dark and pessemistic pictures until information is released.

Sincerly,Baldur's Gate 3 will **ck if the engines on the two others arent used.3D dont make that much good games. Why would gamers want to change a winning formula such as Bg1 and 2.

you'll just have to brace yourself, b/c the infinity engine is dead. gone.

no more ie games ever.

--

further, i think you over estimate the ie, yes there were some very good games made with it, and there were some that were so-so. at the end of the day the great games were great b/c the folks who made them cared about the product, not b/c the were slavishly devoted to the ie.

what set bg apart was story, depth, and passion. not software.

haha well it seems as if my question was slightly misinterpreted.

i'm not worried about not using the infinity engine. not one bit. in fact im very hopeful that they can incorporate 3-d graphics into a relatively simple engine. the beauty of the infinity engine was its simplicity. as a follow up, was space bar pausing a part of the infinity engine i.e. licensed to etc. or not? because i would love to see that same feature in a BG3.

again, if there is a BG3.

The Infinity Engine was officially retired a few years ago, wasn't it? Meaning, no more games will be made with it.
