Get a Haircut?

Ok, well, I've had long hair all my life, and right now it's about 3/4 of the way down my back, and I can't decide if I should cut it or let it grow. Everyone knows me as "the girl with really long hair", and they all say they love it, but I'm kind of getting sick of it. I want to cut it to the length of between my ears shoulders... Above my shoulders, but long enough so I can put it in a pony tail. The only problem is... If I cut it, I'm afraid it's going to fro, because it is extremely thick and curly. Anyways, I just want to know...

Should I or shouldn't I cut my hair?

Maybe you should post a picture of yourself with long hair. We might be able to give a better opion then.

and preferrably one where you edited the hair out with photoshop or whatever. Just so that we can get an ever cleare idea fo what we have to choose between.

BTW I voted no as I've always wanted to have long hair but never had the patience to let it grow out and hence know what a mess it would be if you change your mind and want it to grow out again, but then again maybe it's worth the risk

Dont unless you really want to, you might end up regreting it, as for me my hair is never longer then 4cm after that its going off, i hate having long hair.

i'm thinking... i can't make a clear disision unless i see what you look like with your long hair, and know how much your going to cut off... other wise, keep the long hair.

Haha, yeah Rob, I'm sick of it. So... I've pretty much decided to cut it.

And sorry guys... I don't have a pic to show you. But I'm thinking of chopping it just about my shoulders... and getting like, maybe an uneven cut so it looks jaggedy, and putting black and blue streaks in it. (It's like a brown with natural blonde highlights.)

Lost One... all my guy friends are like, "Don't cut it, we like long hair!" but then... I don't have a boyfriend. So what's the point of doing things for boys if they don't do anything for you?

My hair grows fast, too. So if I don't like it... I can wear one of my hoodies with the hood over my head for a few months.

I still haven't decided for sure... But if I can get an appointment soon, I'm gonna hack it.

The only real reason I didn't want to cut it is because it's so thick and curly, and I don't know what it will do when it's short... But I suppose that's why mousse and gel was invented, right?

I'm 16 years old (or three days away from being so) and I've never had short hair... I almost can't wait.

Aegis, yes, I was going to cut it a few months ago, and I was going to donate it to... I forget the organization's name, but it was for cancer patients and so forth. And then it wasn't quite long enough, so I let it grow out. Now... I'm sure it's long enough, and I'm gonna donate it.

Good stuff. I have a couple friends who have done the same, and I was very proud of them. I did the same when I had long hair. SO, again, good stuff.

Well, I myself am pretty much into girls with long (preferably brown/darkbrown) curly hair. But that's just my opinion. You should do the things you like and if you don't like it, well, just pray it grows back fast.

Don't worry about what the guys think, or what anybody else thinks for that matter, do what *you* feel most inclined to do

Consider it this way, 16 is one of those milestone ages in some ways, so a new haircut would be a way of celebrating.

I have had long hair for much of my life, but I had it cut short when I was 18, it was a lot of fun, and it actually felt quite liberating since it also marked numerous other transitions in my life. Then after a while I grew it out again because I decided I preferred it that way.
But hey, you need to experiment to find out what works best for you

Hehe, thanks DW. I agree with you. I don't do things for other people (dressing a certain way, doing my hair a certain way, you know, things that don't matter, etc.) One of the reasons I want to cut it... I love straightening my hair, but it takes like, 45 minutes to do it and I don't have time to do that before school. I just think it would be coolto be able to do that in like, 10 minutes, ya know? And my hair is so heavy right now that I can't really do anything with it.

And giles... You sound like my friend Matt. He always tells me he wants to shave his head and asks me if I'll do it with him.

I would shave it if I didn't fear that I have an oddly shaped head.

That, and I don't plan on joining the Navy anytime soon.

Sytze, one of the reason's I didn't want to cut it is because the guy I liked liked my long hair, and one of my friends begged me not to cut it. But now that my crush on that guy is gone, and there are no other guys that I am currently interested in, I feel like it is time to do things for myself and not worry about impressions I might give to people whom I would care about what they thought of me anyways...

...I hope that sentence made sense...

And I'm sorry to rid the world of one less girl with long, brown, curly hair for you, but I don't think we'll be seeing each other any time soon.
