I just installed my new copy of KotOR onto my new computer, and it won't run. I posted on the tech. self-help foums, and they said that I needed a new video card. So I scanned the local ads, and online, and here are the options I came up with...
Radeon 9600XT 128MB Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR - $200
Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR - $200
GeForce FX 5700LE Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR - $190
Verto GeForce FX 5600 Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR - $175
GeForce FX 5500oc Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR - $150
Radeon 9600se Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR - $130
These are the best options for me that maximize preformance within my budget. If anyone has any advice, or owns any of these video cards and can vouch for the preformance of KotOR on them, I would appricate it. Please remember I am not like a computer genius, so try to keep it as simple as possible please. Thank you in advance.

Maybe nobody knows all these cards sufficiently to warrant giving advice.
When faced with a hardware choice I would:
- check on Tomshardware
- search google groups to get an idea on which cards give the most problems, in general and with the games you play specifically.
- I also want the card to be useable with FreeBSD, so decent xfree drivers and support are required.
That said, from reading the forums I got the impression that radeon cards tend to cause more problems (with kotor) then nvidia, enough so for me to focus on nvidia, should I be looking for a new card.
But I am prejudiced towards NVidia, who provide native drivers for FreeBSD, so don't take my advice.

My one problem is that the fan on the video card is noisy , and when the fan kicks into a higher gear, it causes the game to shudder. anyone who knows any way to correct those two problems, let me know, i would appricate your input. Thanks in advance
