Newbie question: how do you use torch to light plague victim pyres?

I have torch in inventory, tried to drag 'n drop, tried to wield it 2nd hand, tried to bash, tried to examine the pyre, tried about everything that pops into my mind, but I still can't set fire on those... Little help?

All you should need to do is to equip a torch, and then left click the pyre.
This should automatically set fire to them - however there are some that aren't clickable, and thoese you can't set fire to.

Ones I've clicked have items like necklaces in them, and it only brings up the pickup inventory.. I'll try to find other pyres.. thanks for help!

Try to set them on fire after emptying! Anyaway, I think if you burn sg that has items inside, you will find those items in the remains. Same goes for spider cocoons.

Actually you can't light fire on that pyre, it just acts as a container. But thanks for the tip on the cocoons.
