Watcher's Keep Level 3
Watcher's Keep Level 3
Help! According to the GB walkthrough and according to the mad elf's journal, one of the rooms on this level should have a demon that I need to talk to get one of the gems for the scepter. However, I have been through all the rooms on this level and none of the demons talked to me except for the one at the very end. So now I only have two of the three gems needed to exit this level and I can't find the third. Can you offer any assistance?

You need to follow the directions in the mad elf's journal to get to every room. You start in the room with the compass and follow the directions from there.
Viconia:Minsc, that tattoo on your face, does it have tribal significance or did some nursery's fingerpainting class assault you with the blue pastels?
Minsc:I do not like the tone of your voice, Dark Elf.The face I have isthe face the ladies love! Boo loves Minsc's face, too! Don't you,Boo?

This may be a problem similar to what I had. I went through the entire dungeon (eventually using the walkthrough as a check), and figured out that the second demon never gave up a sceptre gem -- thus I only had two. I believe this is a bug in the game. Eventually, I had to use the CLUA:Console cheat to create the second gem and could then move on to the next level.
If you want the CLUA:Console codes for the gems, they are plot02c, plot02d and plot02e; or you can get the completed scepter with plot02b (special thanks to Sabre for this information).
If you don't know how to use the CLUA:Console, I suggest you do a search of this forum or check out the instructions on one of the countless sights on the web.

I wonder if the original poster has the same problem I had; the journal of the madman says something like "go east, through the pillar of stone room, until you find a talking demon". The thing is, there are a couple of demons in the stone pillar room, and they do talk, although not to the PC. I assumed these were the talking ones, and changed direction. The correct course of action is to keep going to the East from there, and you'll find the talking demon in the next room. He'll have one of the scepter stones.
