Mods!

Post by me0w »

Well, I've clocked BG again for like the 5th time, about 3rd as a cleric illusionist, with various parties. Now I'm soloing it (never done) with a FTM, I'm quite far, I need to finish the Cloakwood mines, now guys, are there any mods I can install, apart from ease of use.. mods that will make enemys tougher (I heard of something that gave enemies better wepeons). Also, anything that will give me extra quests, more killing, more tough battles, I'd be really gratefull if there are any that wouldn't corrupt my files.

Thanks guys, I'm sure you can help meh.

http://www.pocketplane.net/modlist/inde ... &cat_id=31 lists two difficulty mods, but i don't know if you can install it in mid-game. Backup your save games and try it out, and if you install multiple mods, remember to install the non-WeiDu before the WeiDu mods.

Check out Field of the Dead. It sounds very promising: http://echon.cyg.dk/bgmod/

Completely new AI, a restored encounter with Elminster (!), new spells and tons of alterations of the game rules to make them resemble more like the p&p version.

Elminster was supposed to greet you at the Friendly Arm Inn, but a scripting error prevented him from spawning.

Just checked with Infinity Explorer what he had to say. I hope I found the right one. Have you seen this before?

"Well met, young one! I trust that thou art well? I have heard many things about thee in the past few tendays, and I am most impressed."

The creature file is ELMIN3.

:D

Not very well... At the moment I'm buried in homework. I have fooled around a little with DLTCEP, but managed only to screw up a few Planescape: Torment files. Well, my modding skills *are* actually improving. Although a modding guide in >pcplayer would be nice (hint, hint) ;)

How is Field of the Dead shaping up? Will a release date be announced soon? Has Max finished the new areas? By all means, do tell!

I thought about writing that article for some time but never got around to it. I may do it later on.

As for modding, do not hesitate to ask if you got questions about this or that.

FotD is doing good, I am still working on it nearly every day. As for the release date, I very much doubt I will annouce that before the entire mod is completed or nearly so. It is difficult to predict how long it takes. Max has finished two areas and will start on a third area soon (I hope, hehe). The site has previews of the new areas if you have not noticed yet. :)

I no longer buy >pcplayer every month as I am a little low on money, so please let me know if you do write one. You can always find me on pcp's forum.

Max has done an excellent job! The desert map is dead good ;) Will the new areas be for high-level characters only, much like the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion?

How will the new experience cap influence the game? I can imagine a lot of encounters getting beefed up because of it. Or will the new AI simply make the game that harder?

Nice stuff, looks good, although maybe a little too "realistic" for me, but I'm up for the try.

I was just wondering, is there a way to play without some of the changes, such as the druids not having the option of using large shields... the thing about wood, well to me little bucklers and small shields are fully metal, however, its the larger shields that are wooden.. except for little bits of steal on the edges or for reinforcement (however this is just my little view) But is it possible to do selective installation, it would be nice. Main thing about your mod, is the making the game tougher and extra zones. Would be great. Well anyway good luck.

But now to the main point of my post; I'm currently installing Heart of Fury, along with some other mods that have been succesfully installed, however, with Heart of Fury it comes up with this error message when I use the setup file;

after a few bits of junk

"syntax error
ERROR: problem parsing TP file [Setup-TGC1.tp2]: Parsing.Parse_error

ERROR: Parsing.Parse_error

Press ENTER to exit."

So guys, any idea, I did it in the same way I installed "The Grey Clan Episode".

So any ideas? Thanks guys.

Yes, exactly. This mod raises the XP cap to 400,000 (was 161,000 with TotSC) and these new areas are here to make sure you will be able to earn those XP.

Other than the final battle (and maybe a few others), the original encounters remain pretty much the same. The mod introduces new and increasingly difficult encounters, though. Overall the game does become more challenging, however, due to the new AI. Your enemies will act more intelligently and will be not be easy to exploit.

I was wondering what you mean by "realistic". Would you care to elaborate?

There will be no optional components. As for the shield thing, it is not a final decision. I may allow them the use of all shields.

As for your install problems, I suggest you contact the author.

ARG! my post cancelled itself!! GRR!

Anyway, I guess I don't really like Pen and paper much, just seems to limit my possibilities too much.

Ok anyway, I have a patch called NPCaddon, anyway I need Infinity Engine Editor Pro. Well I got it. Now I have a problem When I import the addon thing, I get this error message.

"There has been an error in the program:

The common dialog function failed during initialization. This error often occurs when insufficient memory is available, at IAP_Importer.01."

Now I have 6 gigs available!

HEEELP, please!!

error is:

"An Assertion failed in D:\Dev\Baldur\InfGame.cpp at line number 4286
Programmer says: Creature file not found ATTEMPT"

So .. help again.. this is the main problem.
