Maces

I have played using several of the other weapon types, there are always loads of them in the shops, or you can get them by killing monsters, but I have only found 1 spiked mace, and that was in level 3 of the catacombes, I am now on level 26, but I still have not seen any better maces, does anyone know where I can find one? :(
