Blade of Xerxes

Post by Deathmagus »

I need the Blade of Xerxes. So, I head to the pit of Fires. There are adventurers outside, and although I have enough persuasion, I choose the wrong dialogue to make them get it for me. SO - I head in, thinking I'll just get extra experience. I find them dead later in a room, so I ressurect them. The leader talks to me with the SAME options I had back at the beginning of the dungeon, and this time I "get the blade" from them.

Problem is, I didn't. It's not on the ground, it's not on any of their persons (I checked with pickpocket), and my guys didn't pick it up. So...I figure maybe the script deposits the blade on the ground outside, since that IS where you're supposed to get it from the adventurers. But it's not there.

I head back in, lay waste to the fire demons, and find the lava pit, marked "unlocked". Problem is, I can't open it. It keeps making sounds like it's locked, but it's not. Did I screw up the game by ressurecting the other party and "getting the blade?" Is there some pre-requisite that I have to have to open the pit? I thought maybe it was strength, so I used a save editor to temporarily boost my strength to 15, but it still won't open. Help!!

I just enter the Pit of Fires and take the back route battling the fire golems and fire elementals. But the blade you need is in the second lava pool measureing from the enterance. Next to the first lava pool is a small pile containing a ring and staff. The sencond lava pool has no pile unless someone on your team leaves it. Just click on the pool and it opens get the blade and your journel will be updated. Recommend master repair for this Quest.

Oh! You don't need to talk to the people outside. Just go and do it.

I know I don't NEED to talk to the people, but I did. However, I failed to select the dialogue to get the sword for free. So I headed in, saw them dead, resurrected them, and chose the dialogue to get the sword. But now I can't find out where the sword went. It didn't go into my inventory, it's not on the ground, neither my group nor theirs has it, and the second fire pit from the entrance won't open.

On a couple of occasions, when my inventory is full and there is no room for the item, it doesn't just drop to the floor, it disappears altogether. And my NPCs and the guy who gave it to me don't have it either.

This happened with me when I was "given" the trap to catch the giant blue bunny. It just vanished totally.

You know...can I just skip the blade of Xerxes, and wait till I'm a high enough level to blast both the possessed elf AND the demon who comes out if you kill the elf without the blade? There's no way to really lose in this game, short from dying...so could I just skip the blade and still win the quest?

Pit Of Fires

When I've forgotten to press the "period" key I'll kill the elf but the demond excapes. My pc is not new but all action with this old game is very very fast. A running creature crosses the screen in about 1 second so I can't kill the beast.
Any one going to the pit of fires for the blade: Don't talk to the men/women outside just go inside. If you talk to the men you may activate them to get the blade and now you must wait outside for it. If you go inside just go get the blade.

If you're not sure on what to do perform a hard save before continuing. i.e. save as Pit of Fires and continue. Then if you want to restart that section you can.
