It should do. Not sure if it's persaude based, perhaps charisma based, but I never had any trouble with it. Just all the typical light-side responses, and then the third time you stop to talk (I think!) I am pretty sure you have to tell her you love her (awww) and she should help you out!

Is your character a male? Obviously, the game isn't programmed so that a female character can profess her love for Bastilla, and the two women will skip through a field of daisies, holding hands, and live happily ever after. If you're female, I don't think you can convince Bastilla at all to renounce her dark ways. If that's the case, well, you have to kill her. Now, if you're playing as a male... I dunno what to tell you. Maybe she doesn't think your lightsaber's big enough.
General: "Those aren't ideas; those are special effects."
Michael Bay: "I don't understand the difference."

I just finished the game for the first time, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I played as a female and managed to convince Bastila to convert. No I didn't need to tell her I loved her
If you couldn't do it, my guess is that it's somehow related to how you managed your relationship with her throughout the game. Maybe choosing the wrong dialogue options earlier in the game made it so she wouldn't trust or believe in you sufficiently to ever be redeemed. At least that's how I would have programmed it if I was in charge....
I was also max on light side points too; that might be the reason, or a contributing factor.

Actually taking Bastila back to the light side is not a matter of male/female character but you have to choose carefully your replies xhen you talk to her the first time.
As I remember you must use only two times the answer with a [persuade] skill, the first time it's to say "turn to the jedi code", she says it all and feels better, next I think it's "you could help us against the sith", but if you pick one wrong answer it won't work.

Really? lol. Anyways don't forget that Juhani is actually a lesbian. This has been confirmed by Bioware. Her lover is/was Belaya. Bioware drop the whole back story last minute though I guess because of the sensitive subject. But listen and read their dialogues (Juhani and Belaya) when concerning each other because some of it was left in.

You know, I didn't wonder about that so much as I did wonder about the time I was a female and asked Juhani if she were hitting on me.

actually none of your previous relationship matters as long as you kissed. You must use two persuade options. One isn't enough. The way to do it is to tell her to "use our bond, take your strength from me" and then "I love you bastila..." persuade options. As long as you succeed in both of them she should be convinced.

I'm playing as a female Consular, and was having trouble convincing Bastila to come back to the Light Side. Here's how I eventually succeeded.
The first time Bastila shows weakness, she asks, "How can you still stand against me? Why can't I defeat you?"
The first few times I tried this scene, I chose the obvious option, No. 1, "Now you see the dark side is not stronger than the light." However, after three or four attempts giving "serious responses" and failing to convince her, I made a mistake. I wanted to take a screenshot of my Mac so I could study the dialogue and choices, but when I hit "command-shift-3" to take the screenshot, KotOR reacted as if I had chosen option "3. You can't win, Bastila. Now you must die!"
She responded to the effect of, "I know you're right. Please make my death quick." I then reverted to giving only "serious" responses, and somehow this time I managed to convince her. It was strange, because the first time I played the game, I'm certain I only offered serious responses, yet easily convinced her. In fact, I didn't imagine it was possible to not succeed!
I'm not sure what was different between the first time I played and the second, except that the first time I played a Sentinel, and this time I played a Consular. (I played female both times.) I also played the game more intelligently the second time through, and was much stronger when I faced her. (The first time I played, I actually had to give it my all to beat her; this time I played with kid gloves and had no trouble beating her.) I don't know if it was just a roll of the programming dice, or if my "mistake" actually helped me, but if you are playing a female and are having trouble winning Bastila back to the Light Side, you might want to try making the same mistake I did, and choose the counterintuitive option 3 when that first question comes.

I ran into the same situation again, and this time the above solution didn't work. It seems a lot of this is simply the roll of the dice. I finally convinced her to come back to the light side, even though I offered the exact same responses that had failed several times earlier. In short, save before your encounter with her, and just keeping trying till you succeed!
