Dark side (spoilers)

Okay, I've read about people who say there is some kind of specific bonus or something if you get your meter all the way to the bottom at the dark side, but what are they? I started a new character who is all badass, and so far, I don't seem to see anything going on. Maybe she's just not dark enough yet, but it seemed for a while like every time I got more dark side points, the arrow didn't budge, so I think I'm unable to be darker. So far, all I have is the black-with-red underwear/jumpsuit (which I think looks better than any armor I've seen, incidentally) with the logo of the Starforge.

It's in other threads, but you'll know when your level up screen background is near flaming, and embers are floating around you. dark guardians get extra saber damage per hit dark concilers get more FP, and I'm not sure what a sentinal gets. Look in the forum FAQ.

The bonus' for Mastery is the very first thing mentioned in this thread: KotOR FaQ which also is a sticky in the forum.
