another portrait question

Post by Illuman »

how do i use a custom portrait in the game? i have may protraits stored on my hard drive, but for some reason BG2 doesnt let me click on the "import" or "browse" button after i choose the custom portrait option. do i have to move my portraits into a seperate folder in the BG2 folder or what? also, what format does the file have to be in? that could be part of the problem.

The files must be located in the /potraits folder inside your BG2 main directory, and they must be 38 x 60 in size for the small portrait and 110 x 170 for the large portrait. They must be saved as .bmp files with a color depth of 8 to 24 bit.
For further information see the readme.txt in your BG2 main directory ;)

i've been looking everywhere for a good drizzt do'urden portrait and i finally found one that i like. i was sure to use the correct sizes for the small and large, as stated in the handbook. i go in to create a new character, click on "custom" and find that the files are indeed there, although when i select them, the window beside only displays a sillouete with a question mark inside it! :( the files are bmp. what is the problem?
Peace is that one point in history when everyone is just sitting around...reloading.
