Hello Everyone,
I played the original NWN way back, and thought about getting the expansions which now are going to be released as a new box set.
Two questions:
1) The new platinum/deluxe edition is released on 24/09 (or 09/24 depending which side of the atlantic you are). However, I have seen widely differing prices for the same item (from £18 to £35). I just want to make sure that the deluxe (UK version) is equivalent to the platinum (Us?) version so I get both of the expansion packs. Anyone know if they are the same?
2) I am planning on playing through from the start with a dwarven cleric which I hope to take some fighter levels in further along the line. I have just finished playing star wars : Kotor and I remember that charisma had an influence on force powers. Is this true with NWN as well with cleric powers? I have only played fighter types (Ugh - me bash!) so I have not have had to worry about this too much.
To take some fighter levels I was hoping to have a reasonable strength and constitution. For cleric I will need wisdom, but if i need charisma then obviously i will probably reduce strength. If i remember rightly there are several charisma boosting items in nwn so i might be able to keep that lower to start.
Anyone got any suggestions for stats? I was thinking that wisdom 16 would be necessary, I am planning on using warhammer and shield (can I get martial weapons feat fairly quickly?) so dexterity not a big problem, constitution 16, strength as high as possible, not worried about intelligence (?) and charisma the remaining. Any thoughts ideas?
Thanks
Recoba

1) sorry cant help you there.
2) No, your charisma wont matter all that much. Cleric spellcasting is largely wisdom-based - only your "turn undead" abilities will depend on your charisma... and never found those to be THAT useful, anyway. That also means WIS should be your prime attribute if you want a spellcasting cleric while STR/CON are the way to go for a fighter like the one you talk of. Note that the WIS score determines the highest spell-level you will have access to. (14=lvl4, 15=lvl5, 16=lvl6 etc.)
For a dwarven fighter cleric, I'd recommend a priority profile like this:
STR: 16
DEX: 8
CON: 18
INT: 12
WIS: 14
CHA: 6
His spellcasting wont be all too uber, but he'll have hitpoints to boot and will pack quite a punch. The CHA is devastating of course (only one turning/day), but all the goodness has to come from -somewhere-. If that looks too harsh you, try 10-12-10 (INT-WIS_CHA) to get an average one with less spellcasting and less skillpoints/level but with a prettier face.
If you want a dwarven spellcaster...
STR: 14
DEX: 10
CON:16
INT: 10
WIS: 17
CHA: 7
This'd make a quite impressive frontline caster (again, with less emphasis on turning of course) with a bit less power when it comes to weaponry.

1) As far as I am aware, they are one and the same.
2) Many races/classes get the martial weapons feat for free. Elves get Elf proficiencies (Long/short sword and long/short bow). For a Dwarf Cleric however, you will only get simple weapon proficiencies.
You will get at least one feat at level 1 other than those that apply to your class, so you could take it then, or you could take a fighter level first and you gain simple and martial weapons, all armor and shields for free. I would perhaps recommend taking a fighter level in the first few levels rather than wasting the low number of feats you will gain from your cleric, and still get martial weapons.
You also might want to try other "fighter" style classes other than an out and out fighter. The ranger class is not that far off a normal fighter (or can be made to be) and has the advantages of an animal companion and favoured enemies.
EDIT: On the attributes, I would perhaps drop one/two constitution points and throw those at wisdom for better spellcasting. That's quite a high constitution for any class really, and if its for the single player campaigns my feeling is that you don't really need it.

Trouts are best tickled in muddy waters
Actualy only Turns,Devine might and Devine shield depends on CHA.
as for fighter-type cleric i must say that cleric's divine spells making him fighter. Clerik able to improve his AB by 15 from spells, and he might boost his STR greatly. only Devine power will make BAB of cleric as he was fighter of same level and will rise any STR to 18,if it was lower.
So,IMHO,if you want nice cleric - don`t do big STR.
